World of Discoveries in Porto: an interactive museum

Porto World of Discoveries

The World of Discoveries in located in Porto and is an interactive museum and park. The World of Discoveries encourages the visitors to travel back in time in a very imaginative way. It’s based on the Odyssey of Portugal, who discovered an unknown world by sailing in the oceans during the 15th and 16th centuries. Back in the days, Portugal created new seafaring routes and was responsible for the distribution of plants, animals and humans over the world. You can simulate the routes of the historic explorers and get to know how they made their way without any technology. See for example how in 1488 Vasco de Gama and his crew conquered the Indian Ocean.

You can make an interactive journey in a boat to, among others, Macao, India and Brazil and experience the history, the smells, designs etc. of history. The park offers a revolutionary multi-sensorial experience.

In another location you can find maps and navigations, and a 4D world globe to find out how the world looked like in various moments in history. The 4D Globe and fog screens are used to make this experience even more fantastic, and this park has twenty theme areas!
