English pronunciation lessons from qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience

I graduated from the University of Wales, College Cardiff in 2001, with a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics. My dissertation was a study of the intonation patterns of English and how they are comprehended by Chinese learners of English.

Most of my time since graduation has been spent in China and Hong Kong. I have experience teaching both beginners and university students majoring in English.

I returned to the UK in 2018 and hope to continue to help non-native speakers of English to improve their pronunciation.

In my pronunciation lessons I focus on sounds that are particularly difficult to the learner due to the sound not being present in the native language. I explain and illustrate how what a student says can often be misunderstood by the listener, causing much frustration for both parties.

My teaching is not limited to teaching pronunciation, having taught writing and linguistics at Guangzhou University in Southern China.
