What is it like to live in Zurich? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Beautiful European town with its typical medical streets and buildings. Beautiful natural landscape very close by, many recreation opportunities, parks etc.

Big but: high prices.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zurich?

It's cool.

How much does it cost to live in Zurich?

Well, a room you might find for about 500-600 CHF per month, on average. The second large costs is transportation, but if you live inside the city (and it's not big) you can buy a second hand bike, that'll be cheaper and keep you in shape.

Food and drinks are expensive in restaurants, but you can get by fairly well with supermarket prices.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zurich? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes. Contact the universities.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

We have special cheesy dishes which are very favoured during the cold winter days.

What places would you recommend visiting in Zurich?

All of it almost. it's a very small city compared to other main European cities, so visiting it won't be a problem. But it's worthwhile visiting places outside the city, find out how to get cheap tickets.

What advice would you give future students heading to Zurich?

Befriend Swiss student but also international students, who have lived in Zurich for a while will know the cool places to visit.
