Why did you choose to go to Zurich, Switzerland?

I like the city of Zurich very much, so when I received the opportunity to go to Zurich for my exchange, I instantly applied for it.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

As an Erasmus student you get a scholarship for the period of your studies at the university. I received about 1700 CHF.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zurich?

The student lifestyle is very good in Zurich. Especially if you live in a WOKO student house with other Erasmus exchange students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Zurich to other students?

I would definitely recommend the city and the University of Zurich to other students. The city is beautiful and the university is of high quality standards.

What is the food like?

I usually cook food which I also eat at my home country, therefore I can't really tell what typical Swiss food is like.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Zurich?

No. I applied for a room via WOKO and after some weeks I got an offer for a room which I accepted.

How much does it cost to live in Zurich?

Cost of living in Zurich is very high in my point of view. I can't really give an exact number.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The official language in Zurich is German, however the Swiss people speak Swiss German which in my point of view is quite hard to understand. The university of Zurich offers language courses throughout the semester for various languages.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Zurich from your city?

I'm from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) the easiest way is to travel with the airplane or with the train.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Zurich?

I would recommend Plaza, Zukunft and Hive for a night out in Zurich.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Zurich?

Unfortunately not.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Kunsthaus is a very nice museum and something you absolutely may not miss out on is a walk along the Zurichsee.

If you want to really enjoy your Erasmus exchange, then Zurich is the place to be!
