Experience in Zagreb, Croatia by Nina
What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Easy going and fun, people always outside and helpful... Everybody speaks English. Nice austro-hungarian architecture and many things to go and see.
What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?
There's a good support system for students, many places to go out and hang out daily, everyday.
How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?
For anyone that comes from the EU, Zagreb is cheap.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zagreb? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes, it's better to do it over the summer because every single person leave the city during the summer and then comes back in september searching for the apartment.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is amazing. Something that is called turkey with “mlinci”, is the best! Do not eat a lot of fish outside because it's not fresh (only if you buy it on the market!). Lot of pasta and burger mania, best burgers in Croatia!
What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?
Everything! There are too many places you should visit. The Upper town is the most beautiful one in the center.
Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
It's very good!
Bistro Pod Zidom, Plac burger, Fidel Gastro, Duksa (best pizza), Didov san, Sofra...
Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?
It depends on what you like but Katran is my favourite one for everyone in search for fun! Go on fridays! Saturdays is too crowded.
What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?
You will love it and you’ll have major fun, I promise you.
