Zagreb is a classic city from central Europe, with a lot of green areas and mild weather.
What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?
Zagreb is a student city, with more than 70000 students.
How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?
One beer in an average pub or cafe shop is around 2 euros, coffee is 1.5 euros, bread is around 1 euro. Transportation ticket is 50 cents for city bus and tram. Monthly rent for a student apartment would cost around 250-300 euros, in a dormitory a little more than 50 euros.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food in Zagreb is traditional and delicious. Favourite meal is pizza and burek (cheap streetfood).
What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?
The upper town, Jelacic square, Croatian National Theatre, Maksimir Park.
Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
I recommend to eat in a students restaurants, because they are incredibly cheap (lunch is around 1.5 euros).
Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?
Nightlife is ok, with numerous clubs and places to visit, but on Monday and Tuesday clubs are rarely open.
What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?
It is a city that you should visit, a lot of people speak English, food is great and don't be afraid cause both the city and people are peaceful. The whole country is tourist-oriented.
