What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Although Zagreb has got one million inhabitants, you can pass through the centre for half an hour. You will meet a lot of people sitting in a caffee and enjoying in a good company, smiling and joking. Beautiful buildings, lot of parks and green surfaces attract your attention. There is everything you need in this wonderfull city. People are generous, friendly, always ready to help tourists. Almost everybody speaks English and they are well educated. Zagreb is well known for its culture, fashion and pretty women. It is the city which people all over the world love more and more.
What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?
Zagreb is ideal for students. There are several student accomodations, prices are low, variety of faculties offers good education and knowledge. Many parties, clubs and lounge bars are full of students and young people.
How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?
If you have got you own flat, an adult needs about 900 euros per month to live decent life. Food is not expensive, especialy in restaurants. There you can find lunch for 5-8 euros. A cup of coffee is 1 euro, while cappucino costs about 1,70 euros, a glass of vine (excellent) is from 1-5 euros (depending on the caffee bar and restaurant) .
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zagreb? Is there any advice you can give?
There are many hotels and private appartments which are not too expensive. I would especially like to underline new hostels in the very center. They are so modern and confortable and lowcost.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is one of the best in the world. This is really true. You can eat very good food for little money. We like to eat "čevapčići", "sarma", "purica sa mlincima" . It is not possible to numerate everything, whatever you order, you did a good thing.
What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?
Beautiful cathedral, upper town, church St Marko, modern museum, croatian national theater, Sljeme peak (the Medvednica mountain), numerous spas around the city, castles in Croatian Zagorje, city museums, the Jarun lake.
Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
I adore two restaurants in the very city- Nocturno and Leonardo which are very cheap, than The Peoples, Green Gold club, ...
Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?
For young people there are many clubs- green gold club, clubs on the Jarun lake, numerous caffe bars , Bamboo launge bar....
What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?
Come to study in Zagreb, you will be very happy here. First, because people are nice, second because accomodation and food are not expensive, faculties are very good, staff correct, transport is available for students with lower prices. And finally, you will feel as if you were at home!
