Experience in Zagreb, Croatia by Erika
What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I can't speak in the name of Erasmus student, I am a regular student here. For me I am not very fond of the city but that is just my taste. Personaly for me it's not a very warm city (speaking of people) and the weather can be a bit depressing. It is a simple middle european city.
How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?
If you live in a dorm it's more or less 50€. As for the appartment if you have a roomante I guess around 160€ all included.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zagreb? Is there any advice you can give?
I wouldn't know for sure but I think that it's not a problem.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
The food is okay, many choices, depends where are you eating and how much you want to spend.
For the students there are student restaurants and menu is around 1€. Food in student restaurants is not very good but it is okay, it also depends on the restaurant and the day.
What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?
Depends what you like. It is a big city but very urban.
Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes but for croatian standards it can be a bit pricy.
Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?
Yes and no. I don't like folk music so in my taste there is too much places with that music.
What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?
Carefully check your study programs and faculty. Organization can be quite off.
