Experience in Zagreb, Croatia, by Andrea
What is it like to live in Zagreb? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I would definitely recommend you Zagreb. It is perfect for young people.
What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?
You can always find something to do for and the prices are affordable. There are a lot of Erasmus students coming every semester. People are nice, helpful and speak foreign languages (English mostly).
How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?
Student's home is around 50-80 euro per month (double). You can eat in student cafeterias where you can find cooked meals. 300 euros should be enough (accommodation, food, transport, fun).
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Zagreb? Is there any advice you can give?
If you are looking for an accommodation in the student's homes, you should apply ASAP. Private accommodation is far more expensive, but easy to find.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Tasty!
What places would you recommend visiting in Zagreb?
The Jelačić square, Upper town, cathedral, botanical garden...
Is it good to eat out in Zagreb? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
If you have some extra money, it is always nice to visit restaurants. Again city center.
Is the nightlife good in Zagreb? Where is good to go?
Excellent! Center, Sava and different concerts are my favourites.
What advice would you give future students heading to Zagreb?
Enjoy and ask questions, someone will always help.
