Why did you choose to go to Zagreb, Croatia?

Actually I don't know why I have chosen Zagreb. Croatia just sounded nice so I decided to give it a try. I am the only student from my university here but since I'm here I haven't regret my decision for a second.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship lasts four month and I get 200€ per month. This money covers housing and some others expanses.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?

Well depending on your field of studies in can be rather strict. In my faculty they check attendance in every class and we need to study quite a lot compared to other faculties -faculty of law, etc- whose Erasmus students have a good life and a lot of free time.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Zagreb to other students?

Zagreb is a nice city with a good vibe. Getting around town is really easy and most of the people speak English which can be quite helpful. Going out is really cheap and the Croatian students in my class are really open for new people.

What is the food like?

Food in Mensa is really cheap (1€ for a three course menu). Eating out is also really cheap. I just feel like food in stores in comparably expensive.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Zagreb?

No.

How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?

150€ for my room. Dorms are cheaper, some flats of course more expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are language courses available but I feel like Croatian is really difficult to learn compared to other languages.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Zagreb from your city?

By bus.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Zagreb?

Ziraffa cheapest beer in town or Swanky is really nice as well.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Zagreb?

Menza is cheap and good. I usually don't eat out.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Well Croatia in general is a beautiful country. You'll find something to do; )

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Zagreb in the future?

Just do it!
