Why did you choose to go to Zagreb, Croatia?

It was an abrupt decision because my earlier plans failed through. Thankfully, ZSEM was able to accommodate one extra student on a short basis, paving the way for me to go ahead and explore this hidden treasure. I had barely one week to imagine this or have expectations.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My Erasmus grant was approximately 960€, alltogether.

What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?

It really depends on which kind of group one ends up becoming a part and how they view the experience. For me, since I already am studying in Europe, I did not use this opportunity to explore the "rest of" Europe; rather, to exploring Zagreb and Croatia in its entirety.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Zagreb to other students?

Of course.

What is the food like?

It's great in variety and quite affordable on a price. I would advice, however, not to always eat outside because there are plenty of things one can also cook at home! And in a Croatian style.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Zagreb?

No.

How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?

Generally the prices are between 250-350 € for basic, plus utilities. You really have to be lucky to find a good place. I lived, for example, in a hostel which was not all equipped for everything. However, I used this chance to save up on costs.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Zagreb from your city?

I flew to avoid the hassle. However, one could easily take a bus from Munich to Zagreb and it is not at all that expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Zagreb?

Just out... everywhere. There is life happening in all places (not necessarily clubs or bars).

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Zagreb?

I tried everything. "The Potato House", "The Grill".

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The upper part of the city is filled with stories and culture.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Zagreb in the future?

Just be ready to explore and let's see where life takes you.
