Orientation week and new friendships
Chapter 3
Here we go!
A couple of days after arriving to Warsaw we finally had our orientation session, this was the first official gathering of all people who went in Erasmus in SGGW, the place was packed. We had a nice introduction to the campus and to some activities the ESN was organizing for us, after that we all went to cafeteria and chilled out for a bit, trying to get to know each other better. Naturally at first you start to create your own little group, where usually it's the first people you meet, for me it was like that and for you will probably be the same for a few weeks at least. It's not a problem to do this, trust me. I used to hang out more with the greek and french people for weeks untill I started to hang out more with people from my country, but untill this day they still are the ones I talk more even after we started to hang out less. They have special place in my heart.
Anyways, at first it was hard, my brain had so many names, so many new faces that memorizing all of them was not easy, at first I was just calling them by "hey bro" or "hey man", a big "hi" for the girls ahaha. With time all the names starting to sync in and then I had dozens of people to talk to, it was really great.
The first week was overwhelming, there was a party every night and in a different place of the city. This made things harder for me because I never knew how to get to the "hellhole" where I was living, everytime we departed groups of people would get back together to the dorms and I had to discover a new way to get home by bus, pay a taxi or in a worst case, but often frequent I had to walk. Like I said at first, I was hanging out more with four greek people and two french dudes, I met other two greek girls after the first party and the group just got a little bigger. These people change my life and my experience in erasmus for the better, especially the new greek girls I own these people a lot and you will see why in the next chapters to come! :)
After a few more parties we took a break during the day to rest up our heads from all the alcohol we were consuming because POLAND IS SO CHEAP (seriously, you can get drunk for 3,5 euros with a bottle of vodka, it's that cheap) and went sightseeing a little, so we all looked around the Old Town of Warsaw. A beautiful place, much more then I had originally thought.
Here's some pictures of that very first week. It's basically a big coalition of portuguese-greek-french mafia. Every single picture you take in erasmus is a precious memory that will accompany you during your life, so drain that battery of your phone or camera dry and take as many as you can!
Thanks for your time in reading this, see you next time if you want to follow up my story a little more ;)
