How to deal with banks in Germany

The banks in Germany are quite different as in Spain. When you open an account you need to have all the papers prepared and wait about 2 weeks to receive 5 letters separately, and only then you can use your EC card. At least at Postbank is like this. It's quite complicated to deal with important themes like banking in a foreign language. We found a german woman speaking a poor spanish with a latin american accent that tried to explain us what;Hummel; ment in german (our street is Hummelstrasse). And there she says;it's an animal with yellow and black stripes; where my friends answer;it's a bee?;.;No, bigger!; she says.;A tiger?;. It comes out she was talking about a bumblebee :). So these problems of understanding a joke also happen with important things like university fee or the rental payment. Some friends of mine received letters from the university that the payment has been entered another account. These things were not really pleasant at the beginning when students didn't understand all the german and they didn't know where to go to solve the problems. So make sure you do it right.
