Going to cafés in Warsaw

There are different districts in Warsaw where you can have a really good coffee, each one has a special charm so don't hesitate to go and visit them all.

Nowy Świat district

As I've already said, this is the main street to spend free time in the city. Here, we can find cafés for everyone's palate, including chains such as "Starbucks", "Coffee Heaven" or "Costa Coffee".

My favourites are:

  • Chill Out Factory: which is found on Foksal street which is parallel to Nowy Świat. It's a very calm bar that invited you in to relax. If you're going to be a little more chilled out, I would recommend that you try their cocktails (the most expensive doesn't even cost more than 5€ more or less) and they are taste so good. My favourite is the Truskawkowa Margarita.

  • Café Blikle: (Nowy Swiat, 33) The oldest and most famous café in Warsaw, it was founded in 1870. The prices are fairly expensive for Warsaw, but one time a year won't hurt you. If you want to treat yourself, I recommend you get the breakfast menu that costs around 10€.

  • Nowy Wspaniały Świat: (Nowy Wspaniały Świat, 63) is a cultural centre where meetings, conferences and concerts take place, they also serve food, breakfasts and, or course, coffee. I ordered a latte for myself and it came in a huge mug. Here is a little bit of the menu (half of which was in English) and a photo of the place.

  • On Foskal Street, there are two or three arches that give way to other streets. Well, next to Chillout factory there is one that takes you to a magical place. I can't remember the name of the place, only that I loved to spend my Sunday's there. When you pass the arc, you will see the café's sign down some stairs. I recommend you try the cappuccino with cream (10 zł).

Ghetto district

There are two cafés here, totally great, decorated all vintage with old furnishing and a young atmosphere.

  • Café Prozna: I recommend their raspberry and chocolate tart. It's a very special café to me because it has a lot of charm. Café Prozna web page

  • The other café is at the entrance too, but it's not so close like the other one. It's also very nice.

The University district

  • (Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28) (Café Kafka web page)

Café Kafka (ul Obozna 3): without a doubt the university café is excellent. (Note: the name is not in reference to the author, but the café) here you can find students and professors at all hours of the day. The great thing about this café, apart from its menu, is that in summer or when there's good weather they put out chairs with colourful striped cloth seats and games (balls, badminton... ) so you can have a good break on the field that they have opposite the café. They have wifi. I recommend the pancakes (the food shouldn't cost you more that 5€).

  • Lola Cupcakes (UL. Przeskok 2 Lok. 8 Warszawa) (Lola's Cupcakes web page)

I have still not been here yet, but it looks really good.
