Hi everyone! :)
My name is Steffi and I will attend courses in Tourism and Marketing, also from September until February..
I emailed the international coordinator, and she wrote me that semester starts on 15th of September - 14th of February 2015, and Christmas holidays are from 18/12/2014 until 01/01/2015.
Did you apply for student room? Well, I applied, but she told me that there are no places available, but they will nominate a kind of "study buddy" that should help me to find an apartment there :/
So anyone looking for a roommate? ;)
Greetings,
Steffi
Iris de Written 10 years ago
Hi Steffi :)
I didn't apply for a student room, because I prefer to look for an apartment in the city.
I had contact with a student from my school who was in Viseu last year, and she told me that she was staying in a hostel the first night. Next day her buddy helped to find an apartment in the city, which was very easy. So maybe I'm planning to do the same. I'm coming alone to Viseu, so it would be nice to have a roommate!
Have you already booked a ticket, or planned when you go to Viseu?
Greetings, Iris
Stephanie Brinkmann Written 10 years ago
Hey Iris, that's good news! :)
Actually, I would prefer a room in the city too, but I thought it would have been more safe to take the option for a student room first, anyway.. I hope won't be hard to find a shared room, because the coordinator wrote me, that they also have lots of contacts from people who rent their houses/ rooms to students. I'm the first student from my University going to Viseu, so I have NO idea about anything and my university as well hahaha..
I'll already booked a flight on 4th of Sept to Porto, I'm going to travel some days throughout Portugal with a friend and we'll arrive in Viseu like maybe 11th of Sept, but she will head back to Germany on 19th.. Maybe we could already look for a room/apartment the weekend 11./12. of Sept.! Did you book already?
Greetings!
Steffi

Probably Iris we will atennd at the same classes :) It will be nice :)
I'm planning to rent a flat with my friend, but i think there is a opportunity to rent a flat with more people :) It will be cheaper :)
I don't book a ticket already cuz until now i don't know when the semester begins :(
Did u sign to portuguese course ?
Take care,
Marta :)

Hi girls,
Nice to get to know some people who are also going to Viseu!
The girl from my school told me the same Steffi. It's not difficult to find an apartment in the city, she found it in one day. So I think that won't be a problem. It's a good idea to look together for an apartment in the weekend of 11/12 September! And indeed Marta, maybe we could also rent an apartment with more people, I think that would be very nice and also cheaper! :)
I haven't booked a flight yet, because I had the same problem as Marta; I was not sure when the semester begins exactly. But now that I know it starts the 15th of September, I will go look for a ticket to Porto. I think I'll go during the week before the semester starts.
I signed in for the portugese course :). I don't know if there's an orientation week, didn't read anything about that... The international coördinator said she'll send all necessary infromation about the study period this week, so I hope then we'll know if there's an orientation week or not!
Greetings Iris

Hi guys,
I'm sophie and I will also spend the next academic year in viseu. I will study marketing in viseu and also arrive a few days before the 15th of september. Also have no idea concerning a accomodation. But I also applied for a student room in the student residence.
I heard that there is the opportunity to finish the academic year befor the christmas holidays starts, because the profs are very flexible concerning the tests at the end of the semester. So you only have to say to your prof at the beginning of the academic year that you have other tests in your home country after christmas and it will be no problem to write all tests before the holidays.
I'm pleased to meet you all in only 2 months :)
I think we will have a very exciting time :P
Aistė Kurkauskaitė Written 10 years ago
Hii!!
Its nice to know, that professors are agreeable for exams before christmas. :)
And also, i accept for Marta idea, maybe also we can creat a group where we can change all needful information, or something else.. i don't know if you like it!! :)
By the way, I also found a room in apartment for few hours :)
I also didn't get a letter from international student office :( i think she will send for us as soon as posible, because I am interested in how works here Erasmus Student Network, (ESN) because one POrtugeese guy told me, that ESN here is undeveloped yet. Also I am interested in what happens in Viseu without studies. :)
