What is it like to live in Varna? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well, Varna is an cosmopolitan city almost all year long, but I highly reccommend from may to the end of September. It's deffinitely a summer destination, but also here are many cultural things to do. Fests and so on.

What is the student lifestyle like in Varna?

To be an Erasmus student here is a journey that you'll never forget. If you need to learn new culture, make some new friends and have an amazing semester while having a sunbath, or just walk into the park with people, that is the place. The fun is here.

How much does it cost to live in Varna?

It depends of your own needs, but my experience with erasmus people from different parts of EU says that 500 euros for shared flat, food, and nightlife are good enough per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Varna? Is there any advice you can give?

As a person who is living here I can say it's easy. I can help.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Well, let me see. Surprisely, Balkan food is acceptable for almost everyone. It's also cheap to cook and eat here. And for sure once you try it, you wont want to stop. Also you will find many dishes that sounds or look strange, but they're local and interesting.

What places would you recommend visiting in Varna?

As an ancient city, being part of many civilisations during the ages, you can see here ancent greec, roman terms, otoman culture, etc. It's a multicultural place, quite big also. Starting with the cathedral, opera house, city clock, train station also with a city clock, the sea garden - 10km wide accross the shore. Dolpfinarium, aquarium also we do have. Might be the only city in the balcans, that has two planetariums. The museums also, archeological one, Vladislav museum, etc. All the film and theater, music festivals that we have all summer long, the beach and the clubs at night.

Is it good to eat out in Varna? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I highly can reccommend places that you won't find at the tour guide. Try some place at the beach, Nemo - (fish restaurant), Kramer - if you want something delightfull sweet. You can check the donuts in front of the zoo, next to the terrarium. And the popcorn next to the Festival and Congress Centre.

Is the nightlife good in Varna? Where is good to go?

The nightlife in ones in a lifetime. Depends what drinks, shots, food and music you prefer. California, Jokers, Stars, Vintage33, Varna Live Club, Saloon bar, Shtaigata, Three Lions pub, Muzika E are places with live music - rock. Menthol, Cubo, Cuba, Palm Beach, Makalali are places with club music. Everything at the beach and the old town. Also many other clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Varna?
