Birgu is a city which is just located very close to the capital of Malta called  Valletta. Birgu is a fortified city which stands the south of Malta, I had visited the city when there was the light Festival this kind of festival happens once in the year, it is very similar to the Festival of light which happens in India only differences in this festival. They burn candles, the whole city was lighting up in candlesthe city is one of the oldest cities of Malta and also has its traditions lying with the Knights of St John, when we entered the city. There was a beautiful gate which was welcoming us filled with lights as we entered inside we saw the pavements filled with lights with burning candles. We kept on going in and going in and going in. This was an experience of lifetime.

Now, as we reached the central square. There were few people who had shown the artwork and they were also selling their artwork. Many people had made a lot of shapes out of the candles, there were kids. There were adults. They were young people they were all kind of people from different generations. We went more into the city and there was a whole show in which they had shown and enacted the British culture and the time of the British Army being in Birgu, they showed how the drill used to take place the also showed a few firing shots, the city was more beautiful, because of the food that they are offered. They had a lot of Maltese cuisine.

There also had a beautiful show in which the show casted a man showing a fire  show and a woman playing the piano. The churches in the city were also let with candles, the beautiful city was looking more beautiful in the night when it was late with the candles. We went deeper to visit the places with Knights of St John lived and to the Naval Museum, where we saw the way the Knights had built the ships, this has been one of the most interesting cities and the most interesting fests. I have attended, there have been more fests which are attended like the chocolate Festival inhamrun  which I will be discussing after a few time in my next blog chocolate Festival was also interesting, but Festival in Birgu was outstanding, this has been a thing that I have understood in Malta that you can be happy with small things.there are various museums in the city. The most of them are dedicated to the siege and battle in the town in 1565. There is a central grand Harbor witches of 16th century origin. Due to the significant location of Birgu, it has been always a very important military base for all the previous rulers of Malta, because the grand Harbour just lies opposite. . There are drop bridges which collect the Cassells to the mainland. During the siege of Malta Birgu was the main battlefield.the parish of Birgu was also interesting because it is one of the oldest parishes in Malta, the first one is in  Mdina, there has been a lot of influence by the British, the Knights and the Arabs.the local council of Birgu takes care of most of the festivals and feasts that take place in Birgu.

from the waterfront of Birgu we can see , the capital of Malta and the beautiful seas around. Birgu, especially during this light Festival is worth visiting.
