Experience in Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain by Łukasz

Generally, what is Polytechnic University of Valencia like?

It's a really friendly place for students with a great international atmosphere. The whole campus is great - it's like a small town with everything you will need. It was pleasure to participate the classes and to spend time with people in one on Universities' cafés.

What are the facilities like?

Very good, there are a lot of innovative facilities. Classes and laboratories are well equipped. Everything is very modern.

What are the tutors like?

Friendly and helpful. If you don't understand anything they will explain you it without any problem. There's a very good contact with the tutors in comparison to my home university. The only problem was that some of them have really low level of English, so often it's better to speak with with them in Spanish, but even while they can't explain something in Shakespeare's language they will try to make you understand them.

Are the lessons easy in Polytechnic University of Valencia?

For Erasmus students are much easier than for locals, but some of teachers are really demanding. If you want to pass you have to work as everywhere.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

ESN organization does. I. e. some parties, international dinners, activities on the beach or trips.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Hard to say because as I said before when you're an Erasmus the demands are lower. Spanish people are studying hard but in comparison with my home university the level of education was quite similar. Only what was a shock for me you don't have so much classes as I'm having normally.

Are there any stories you can share?

Maybe not stories but a piece of advice: speak with tutors and explain them that you're an Erasmus because they will more care about you and they always will be more helpful; speak also with Spanish student if you don't understand something about Spanish system of education.
