Experience in Uppsala, Sweden by Asma Rafiq
What is it like to live in Uppsala? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It is very cozy. I would recommend it to people who like to live in small cities. I was not used to it. But I like it now. I have built few connections but strong ones. So, you will not be lost in the crowd.
What is the student lifestyle like in Uppsala?
Uppsala is a totally student city. It has enormous opportunities to have fun.
How much does it cost to live in Uppsala?
It is a rather expensive place to live in. And finding a job is almost impossible. So, please make sure you have enough funds for the living and studying (international students are charged fees).
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Uppsala? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes, it is impossible to find accommodation. You are placed in a queue and in the first year you will probably need to switch places quite often.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is a bit boring. It can be nice but expensive!
What places would you recommend visiting in Uppsala?
I recommend visiting the Uppsala Castle, the Gustavianum Museum, and the Botanical Gardens, just to name a few.
Is it good to eat out in Uppsala? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Nope! It is way too expensive. In fact, even junk food is way too expensive.
Is the nightlife good in Uppsala? Where is good to go?
I have heard it is awesome if you are student but I am not a night person. So, can't really tell.
What advice would you give future students heading to Uppsala?
