What is it like to live in Uppsala? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

As a student, living in Uppsala is amazing. There are things happening all the time, and there is something for everyone, nomatter personality or interests.

The city centre is quite small and nomatter where in Uppsala you live, you can get around by bike, which everybody does. The architecture is cosy with old buildings here and there, and there are lots of parks and greenery.

The close proximity to Stockholm and Arlanda airport enables you to experience more than just Uppsala when you live here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Uppsala?

Most students live in corridors where you share kitchen and a lot of times also bathroom. The conditions of the corridors vary some, but if you are lucky, you end up in a corridor with party maniacs that throw corridor parties all the time.

The nightlife in Uppsala is quite diverse. For students only, there are the different nations, which are associations that host parties and other kinds of activities, and in which you can get involved to meet new people. You can also visit other nightclubs where non-students are welcome, but these are fewer and a lot more expensive.

Remember that you can not buy booze for pre-partying at any time, anywhere. In Sweden there is only one place to go and that is Systembolaget, so make sure to always have some booze at home so that you are prepared for everything!

How much does it cost to live in Uppsala?

It is a rather costly city in a rather costly country, but it is manageable, and the booze is relatively cheap out on the nations.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Uppsala? Is there any advice you can give?

For Swedes yes, but less so for exchange students, since many corridors have some rooms reserved for exchange students.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

A lot of people, including poor students, try to eat organic, so there are lots of conscience-friendly food in the stores.

If you do not wish to eat a lot of red meat, the Swedish minced hen meat, hönsfärs, is organic, relatively cheap and very tasty.

Falukorv is also cheap and tasty but not as healthy, although very common in the Swedes' daily kitchen.

What places would you recommend visiting in Uppsala?

The nations and Flustret for partying.

Stadsskogen, Fiby urskog and Morga hage for nature experiences.

All of the city during Walpurgis, Valborg, that is like a festival in Uppsala in the end of April.

Is it good to eat out in Uppsala? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is quite boring and bad in comparison to a lot of other countries, but Yukikos Sushi for takeaway is badass.

The portions are big so be wallet- and eco-friendly and ask for a doggy-bag for the leftovers and you will have your lunchbox made for the next day.

Is the nightlife good in Uppsala? Where is good to go?

It is sweet! I hope you like costume parties, a word of advice is to go as awkward as possible and to be original! Fun outfits is great if you want to develop your social life.

Here are some of the nations that I recommend:

Snerikes, Tuesdays, they have great parties with dancefloors that play different kinds of music.

Värmlands, Fridays, they have a big dancefloor and students go there to mate, hence the nickname Spermlands.

Stocken, Thursdays, they have great house music and have also started playing hiphop and dancehall, but the attitude amongst the students is sometimes disgustingly upper-class.

Kalmar, hosts the awesome hbtq nightclub Wilde. Go wild and bälla ur!

V-dala, more for talking rather than dancing, but a really cosy place and before you leave Uppsala you have go there to order the famous Blåbärsnyp shot, its divine!

What advice would you give future students heading to Uppsala?
