Experience in University of Turin, Italy by Linda

Generally, what is University of Turin like?

First of all, I'm studying there as a regularly enrolled student, so all what I write applies only to my experience and may not hold for Erasmus students. University of Turin it has a good reputation and most of the courses are actually useful and informative. The structure of the courses and lessons allow students for a responsible and free management of their studies, and the University is in continuous improvement thanks to students and professors' feedback. The only flaw I can find - again, as a student who is regularly enrolled- is that internal organization and burocracy are often poor compared to other coutries or other universities.

What are the facilities like?

Unito has many services to offer (students have discounts in many cultural events for example, and the university card has several functions), but often the buildings themselves are not so good (I address my department specifically, others are much better).

What are the tutors like?

If by that we mean university professors, there's a wide variability. Some of them are good, have a nice schedule for the course, are clear and respectful during the exams. Of course, there are exceptions.

Are the lessons easy in University of Turin?

It depends on the course and largely on the professor, generally I never had difficulties but sometimes I prefered to prepare exams on my own.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

I think it does, but I never truly took advantage of those.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Overall, I would say yes compared with other Italian cities, but we may not have the most advanced systems as we look outside of Italy.

Are there any stories you can share?

If you choose Turin as a destination for your Erasmus, just know that English is not every teacher's strongest point! After that, enjoy the city, the food and the company!
