Experience in University of Roma 'La Sapienza', Italy by Vedika

Generally, what is University of Roma 'La Sapienza' like?

I chose the university because pf it's rankings, but I really can't understand how they have such a good ranking.

What are the facilities like?

Many times there aren't enough seats. The projectors don't work or aren't clean. No spaces in the library to sit and study, and you basically cannot work at the university unless Italian is your mother tongue.

What are the tutors like?

Most of the teachers have terrible English and cannot differentiate between questions and statements. It's really difficult to understand them due to the same. Many of them just love failing students and aren't very supportive ot helpful.

Are the lessons easy in University of Roma 'La Sapienza'?

If you make it through the language and accent barrier, you can have a tiny bit of hope. Not too much though. Also, you can score 100% if you just memorize everything word by word.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

None that would interest international students. None really to help international students mingle and get to know the culture and country. You also need to have a lot of money to attend the events they do organise.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

No

Are there any stories you can share?

None good ones.
We have had exams where the seats weren't enough, rooms weren't big enough and there weren't enough question papers either.
Also, we have had teachers that corrected our answers wrongly because they couldn't themselves calculate the answers.
