Västerbotten is the second northern County of Sweden and it is the one where Umea is located. It is also the 2nd bigger county of the country, covering almost 1/8 of the total area of Sweden. Västerbotten is a very contrasted and diverse county. Umea for example is one of the most expansive Swedish communities and has a big importance in the development of the entire Västerbotten. Skelleftea is another community of Västerbotten, in the north, which has high industrial importance. But this rich variety of urban communities contrasts highly with the very low dense are of the other parts of the county.
