Umeå pride 2018
Just came home, and have a great feeling, after the umepride 2018...
Was the first time i have ever been in a pride parade, so did not what to expect.. From videos and pictures in big cities, I was ready for a lot of colours, music and glitter all around. But I was thinking that Umeå is not a city that the pride would be very so popular... and I was wrong!!!
The whole city was part of it...
activists, students, families, children, sport teams, elderly people and even pets were part of this beautiful and colourful day!
We arrived in the park around 12:15 and allready a lot of people were there..
then, we start socializing, and met some other international friends!
Then the parade started, with people dancing, singing, and spreading love and hugs!
we took some baloons, flags, some very bad licorice bonbons and free condoms, and then continued the parade! the people were so happy and PROUD of being what they feel, ( the same time that in Greece, people kiiling gay people on the streets an afternoon in the centre of the city...)
But felt so nice looking all the people being there and supporting our rights!
one of the groups, that took my attention was the church group, that as they wrote, we dont want saparated people, just love for all!
(and comparing again the greek church and especially the orthodoxian patriarch who was on charge of hate speech and incitement to violence against gays.. )
Felt so nice that even the most traditional and religious people, support the LGBTQ+ rights, and I just want to share that with everyone around the world!
The sami community was also part of the parade!
But pride shouldnt be not just a parade, people an ideology that people should be free to be whatever, wherever and whenever they want...
Being part of the LGBTQ+ community I feel that its unacceptable at 2018 that people still have to fight for the same rights for everyone.
Or that people can be attacked just because of the sexual orientation...
(Greece, we have to work a lot on it...)
My experience as a bisexual was never too hard, and I feel so lucky that my family and friends support me so much and gave me a lot of sourage to be proud of myself, and happy with my choices!!
I wish all the people had the same supportive reaction, from the people they love...
dont forget,, LOVE IS LOVE...
Umeå did a great job today!
Congratulations to all the organisators and the people who attend the event and make it so special!
feel so full and happy after that event,
and lets not forget to be proud, tomorrow again, that the pride parade wil be finished....
