Västerbotten region is a beautiful place to visit which can offer many unique places to see and activities to do. People from here are very proud of their natural and cultural heritage. From the mountains to the coast, and from the old times to nowadays, there are lots of sights to see in Västerbotten. The main touristic regions of the Västerbotten county are the South of Lapland, the Skelleftea region and the Umea region. The South of Lapland have many interesting sights to see. The nature of the mountains is presented in the Björnlandet National Park, one of the most valuable primeval forests in the country; and the Alpine Botanical Garden in Hemavan, the biggest in Sweden with more than 400 species, both indigenous and native, with many examples of rare plants. The culture has its main references in the Fatmomakke Churchtown, and old Sami meeting place with its main church from the 18th century; the subterranean church Sankta Anna, situated 90 m below ground, Stottingfjallet region and the Torvsjo mills. Time seems to have stood still in places such as the Asplunda old village shop, preserved and restored as the original groecer and general store from 1895; the Inland Railway Museum in Sorsele and the Saga Cinema.
