The Sami shaman
The Sami shaman, or noaidi, had a big importance in the Sami culture, as well as in other indigenous cultures. Its role was to be the intermediary who contacted between the worlds of people and gods. They were the responsible to made offerings to gods in the religious ceremonies in order the gods helped them. In their ceremonies, the shaman went into trance to contact with the spirits and the world of deaths. It was also a doctor of the people, who turned to him when they had problems such as illness.
