One of the things I wanted to try before coming Sweden was the reindeer meat. Of course, after being here more than 6 months I have had several opportunities to taste it.

In the supermarket you can buy this meat in many different forms, mainly dried or frozen. Although it is quite expensive, more than I supposed, since only Samis are allowed to produce it.

Reindeer meat has been the base of the Sami diet to survive the Arctic conditions over thousands of years.

The reindeer meat can be processed in different ways, like stewing, frying, smoking or drying. The dryed and smoked are the most traditional and typical and give it a very tasty flavour although very salty.
