Finally... YES!
Things in my Erasmus proyect are progressing slowly, after all the mess with the university, now I have to continue to organize the things before going there.
A week ago I received an envelope of Umeå. It was supposed to arrived by mid-June, and it was like that. This letter containes the letter of Acceptance, where they tell you if your subjects have been admitted (I had a no, but we already explained in previous post). The fact is that this letter is very important, because it shows that studying in college.
The envelope also has a map of Umeå, a book with interesting things to do before going there, during, and before you go back. It also has a letter from the residence (I recieve it also by e-mail)
About the residence, it do not explain very well, but it says you have to pay a signal of 7500 corones, (785 €), and when they receive it, they will send you a password to get into internet and book the room that you want.
I did it, and 5 days later, I got the password. In Internet you can see all rooms available, and you can book them. It's a little stressful, because by giving you the choose, I do not know which to pick...
Varies in the number of floor, the number of the corridor mates, (the corridor isa hall where your is room, an there is a common kitchen and common room), the kitchen inside or not....
I wanted a shared kitchen, so to socialize a bit, and a high floor, so I took the 3 rd floor. the price varies between 5 or 10 € each room, if it is not much. the average price of a room is 260 € / month.
One interesting thing is where to take the residence. there are several, in different areas. the most interesting are 3:
-One that I don´t know his name, which is the oldest, but very close to the university
-Mariehem: it is the farthest of the 3, and the quieter and newer. it is near the Lake, but there are not too much people living there, so the parties...
-Alidheim: average distance is between is not very old, but is larger, so it has more student atmosphere than the others. Is the one I caught, I think that it is the best.
Today, finally!, I have taken the flight, so there is no turning back... Umeå is waiting for me!
The ticket has been a little mess... I saw a few months ago, pretty cheap, 120 €, with case included and a single scale but sold out over one month... whether I started looking for options. only one scale was impossible, because there are no direct flights from Madrid to Stockholm (not a cheap one, you can go if you pay 250€), and you have to go to Stockholm to catch a flight to Umeå. Overall, I started looking with 2 scales. I have to be there before 22:00 to give me the keys to the residence.
I finally found a Madrid-Milan-Stockholm-Umeå, with two stops, including suitcases for 160 €. it´s;really; good, it arrives there at 18:25, so that gives us plenty of time, and there is;only; 11 hours of the trip.
I can only carry 20 kg of luggage, whether I'll try my parents send me a box. I have been told to send a page, http://www.sinmaletas.com/, but leave at 85 € a box of 20 kg... I'll see what I´ll do.
I´m not going to be alone in the trip, thank goodness! I have met over the Internet (Erasmusu) to Adriana, who is going to move to 10 minutes from my house, and Hernán, a boy from Cuenca that is going to go with us through this challenging adventure.
so... I´M LIVING! what is going to happen to me? who knows...
Now I'll count my remaining 1 month, 3 days, 3 hours and 16 minutes to land in the cold Swedish lands. here I come!
