Fika

It is possible that before your first class and someone have explained you yet what a fika is, may even have already made ??one. But you'll really realize the significance of fika when classes start. Badly translated, it would be coffee time. It can also be a snack time. It's like a break, in which you take a coffee or tea and sometimes sweet.

During a 3-hour class can have up to 4 fikas (depends on the teacher). Many times a teacher will make a fika in 10 minutes and then finish the class (and why do we the fika? just finish and we can go home earlier!). Sometimes they fika last up to 30 minutes. This does not make any sense, is a waste of time and you even get bored... I get used to the fikas, and the more Swedish was the teacher, more fikas he will done!

The good part is that you can take to talk with people from your class and socialize yourself. One tip: many Swedes have a coffee in each fika. Do not fall for that! You will became addicted to coffee... lol
