Experience in University of Bergen, Norway by Alexander

Generally, what is University of Bergen like?

The UiB is a reasonably small and dense university, with most of its faculties and facilities located in the middle of Bergen. The university grounds are very walkable, and there's a variety of classes and classrooms of various shapes, sizes and ages. The university has a lot of sports facilities and several pubs and cafes.

What are the facilities like?

A lot of the facilities are very good, new and modern. Some (older) classrooms unfortunately don't have sockets easily available.

What are the tutors like?

There are a lot of different tutors with different levels of engagement. Some are very competent in the field, but less able to engage and interact with students at our level.

Are the lessons easy in University of Bergen?

Some. It obviously depends a lot on the background of the student. For instance I thought most of my linguistics courses were quite easy, but things like programming and formal logic were a lot harder.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

The university itself does not organise many activities. Most are organised by the various student organisations, based on the interests of the respective organisations.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Most of the professors and tutors are very competent, but their ability to engage is somewhat varied.

Are there any stories you can share?

I don't know what would be relevant.
