Experience in University of the Americas, Puebla, Mexico by natasha

Generally, what is University of the Americas, Puebla like?

The university is built in a old 'ranch'(hacienda) in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla (about 2 hours from Mexico city) where students from all over the world coexist. Near to the largest pyramid of the world. This little student-town is fulled of life and diversity, culture and tradition.
In the UDLA you have free access to all the services the college have (library, swimming pool, gym, labs, etc). The college also give you the opportunity to have academic exchanges with other colleges that collaborate with them and/or internships in companies.

What are the facilities like?

Because the college is located in a town the things are very cheap. You can find very good and interesting things for low price. Also, is near to malls and cinemas, theatre and galleries where you can spend and find valuable time.

What are the tutors like?

It depends on the degree but must of the time are quite friendly and easy going, I'm just talking about my experience. They can help you but is up to you to look for them when you have any question, etc.

Are the lessons easy in University of the Americas, Puebla?

it depends on you. You can have a great time learning and caring about your subjects but of course if you go out everyday/nite then don't expect good grades. Absence is quite important for your grades ( your tests for example).

Does the University organize activities; what are they like?

There are loads of activities to do. Cultural and sports. Some of them are free and there are others that you need to pay but you can take from music lessons (violin, guitar, piano, bass, drums, etc) to dance (african, arab, contemporary, folklore, hip-hop, ballet, tango, salsa, etc) and of course sports like (tennis, foot-ball, swimming, horse riding, rugby, etc) and also kick.boxing, krav maga, valetudo, karate, kung-fu, fencing among others. And last but not least the parties organised by students of each faculty and dormitories

Do you think the teaching is of a high quality?

Yes I do, and also you have the opportunity to enroll in academic international exchanges and internships.

Are there any stories you can share?

I traveled to South America as part of a academic exchange. I met lot of people from all over the world not only because I did the exchange programme but because the UDLA welcomes thousands of international students.
