ABOUT SAGRADA FAMILIA

Gaudí had proposed to focus on the front of the church because he was aware that the construction of the Sagrada Familia would last for centuries to come. In order to be able to enjoy a form of completion, he wanted a generation that had begun the work. Along with that he also wanted to inspire future generations to continue a project’s construction that had taken place before their time. • The Nativity Facade

As the name suggests, the Nativity facade symbolizes the birth of Jesus. This facade was built between 1894 and 1930 and is the only one to be almost built to completion while Gaudí was alive. This façade is seen worldwide as a symbol of life and creation, a representation of nativity.

• The Passion Facade 

The construction of the Passion Facade began in 1954 and was completed in 1976. Its construction was guided by the drawings Gaudí had made in his time. After its initial completion, there was some decorative work that was carried out. This facade is dedicated to the Passion of Christ.

• The Facade of Glory

The largest and most important of the three facades is The Facade of Glory. This is because it gives access to the central nave of the basilica.

• The Interior

Although the Sagrada Familia’s exterior is a work of art in itself, the mention of its interior is equally important. If you ever have the opportunity to visit it, you’ll be surprised by its interior due to its light, magnitude and décor. This incredible monument stands far outside the norm.
