erasmus in Aberdeen
My Erasmus experience at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland was one of the best choices that I could have done during my studies. This internship improved not only the level of my scientific field but also gave me the chance to meet people from all over the Europe and broaden my horizons.
The educational system in Scottish universities is in a high level so I had the chance to be educated and add new skills in my CV. My academic supervisor, the professors and the staff of the university were close to the students and they tried to help us, answering in our questions and solving any problems that we might have. I really enjoyed all the events and conferences that took place during the academic year and I had the opportunity to learn many interesting things.
Apart from the part of my studies, I could not resist to the opportunity that I had to travel around this magnificent country with the great history and culture and explore it as much as possible. The cuisine was totally different from this that I was used to so that was an extra point in this adventure. People were so friendly and helpful and every time they tended to help me if I needed something. Nobody showed impatience with me at the beginning if I had any difficulties with English. The thing I loved most in Scotland is the fact that you can easily get used to it and feel welcome and as equal as locals.
I also had the chance to take part in many activities and I met many students from all parts of the world. They helped me open my mind by sharing different ways of life and exchanging ideas. The above helped me to see things from a different perspective. University life offers a great opportunity to all students because it is a choice of many students abroad and as a result I met people that I could not have the opportunity to meet in other way.
I will never forget the friends that I met and my flat mates during these six months. Each and every one of them has left me something and made this experience more amazing for me. People who have joined the Erasmus program will belong to the same family and you will be connected with them. I will always consider Scotland as a second home and I hope to go back soon.
For all these reasons, these six months were a spectacular experience for me, if not the best, during my studies. It was something that changed my life and made me part of the “global village”. Everyone should do it and live this unique experience! Do not think it twice, just apply for it and enjoy it!
