Exploring Zonguldak, a less explored city in Turkey

Since I came to Turkey, I have been trying to participate all kinds of cultural programs, competitions, and social works happening around me. In June 2015, I attended in a cultural program which was held in Zonguldak. I was very fortunate to join the event and did not miss the opportunity to explore the city.

Zonguldak is in the north-west side of Turkey and on the coast side of Black Sea. The city is less explored by tourists and Erasmus Students. When you will enter into the city you will see the following view.

Before entering to the city, we are driving through the mountain. It was too high and it was raining that day. Since the Zonguldak zone is close to Black Sea, it has rains almost every day. So, when we were driving, we were driving through the clouds. We stopped in a place, perhaps it was peak of mountain, where clouds are flying and moving too fast and that was the first time in my life I stood in clouds! That moment when you also feel flying like clouds!

It was afternoon before sunset when I reached at the hotel. I went to the balcony and saw the best scenario of that day. The sun was plunging into the Back Sea! The next day, I went to a café near to the shore of the sea and having a coffee before sunset just to watch it again. You cannot buy that feeling by money.

Our program was held at Bülent Ecevit University in Zonguldak. You can visit the campus. It is a very beautiful and tremendous campus. After the program, I have visited Gokgol Magarasi, City Center, some shopping centers including Esas 67 and Eraylin shopping center and lighthouse area. Visit the lighthouse area before sunset to see the best scenario.

One can visit Zonguldak by bus from any city in Turkey. There is an airport in Zonguldak but I do not have idea where it is functional or not. From Eskisehir, you can visit by bus. For time saving, take speed train from Eskisehir to Ankara then take bus from Ankara to Zonguldak. You can book hotel in advance through airbnb.com or booking.com.
