Studying in Bangkok

Introduction:

Last January I left for Bangkok to begin the second semester of the first year of my Masters degree. I had six months to discover the Thai culture, food and islands. I studied on the BBA (Bachelor Business & Administration) programme at Thammasat University (a prestigious Thai university). To make the most of my location, I scheduled my five classes over two and a half days (between Tuesday morning and Thursday midday). Why five classes? Because my home university in France required me to obtain 15 credits and one course was equal to three credits. I took a variety of courses including management, economics, marking and also some courses that would teach me about Thailand and Asia. Most lecturers are Thai but there are also some English and American lecturers since the courses are taught in English.

Campus:

The university campus is in a beautiful setting along the Chao Phraya river. It's a medium size campus - not too big, not too small. Some of the buildings are a lot more modern than others but the BBA building is very modern. There is a big cafeteria with different types of food, cafes, a modern library, study rooms, a (small) athletics track, a (small) football pitch and a sports studio that is free for students... Thammasat has everything a good university should! The campus is in Old Bangkok in the west of the city. In other words, it's in the historical part of Bangkok. The famous palaces are 5-10 minutes walk from Thammasat and the market where you can buy charms and trinkets is 2 minutes away. The campus is in a great location near to restaurants, banks and small shops...
