Gumushane City on the Black Sea
Gümüşhane is located in the eastern Black Sea region, bordered to the north-east by Trabzon, to the northwest by Giresun, to the east by Bayburt and to the south by Erzincan. The name consists of two words: the first Turkish “Gümüş” means “silver” in Arabic, and Persian “hane” means house in Arabic, the state took its name from the silver mines in it.
The most important tourist areas we recommend you to visit in Gumushane:
1- Zigana Winter Ski Center
If you are interested in winter sports such as skiing, we recommend you to visit this wonderful area, which is located 40 km from the center of the city "Gumushane", which is the best winter ski center in the Black Sea region. The ski season begins in December and ends in April.
2- Limni Lake
It is located in the town of Torul in the city of Gümüşhane, next to the village of Zigana. In 1999 the area was declared a public park for walks. Every year thousands of visitors come to see the charm of this nature formed from the lake and the surrounding pine and laden trees everywhere.
3 - The cave of Karaca
This cave is located in the village of "Cebeli" of the city of "Torul", and away from the center of the city "Gumushane" at a distance of 17 kilometers.
It was discovered in 1983 and opened for tourism in 1996. When you enter the cave you can see the stalagmites and stalactites formed in bright colors, it is said that the cave air cures many respiratory diseases.
4 - Kov Castle
It is located in the village of Esenyurt in the city of Gömüşhane, 20 kilometers from the center. You can also reach the castle by a 14-kilometer asphalt paved road and a 6-kilometer dirt road. This castle is one of the rare features of the city has been discovered around the ancient city and declared an archaeological area.
5 - Santa Harabeleri
The ruins of this city are located near the border with the province of Trabzon, dating back to the 17th century when the Romans established it.
Nowadays, there are many neighborhoods, each of which contains traces of this ancient city, such as churches and ways of water.
On the other hand, the city has a continental climate and the Black Sea is humid.
40% of the land of Gumushane is covered with meadows, 26% of it is planted, 22% of it is forest The northern part of the state is very rich in vegetation.
The state's economy is dependent on agriculture, and the state ranks 66th out of 76 states in terms of development.
Cereals such as lentils, potatoes, sugar beets and others are grown.
In terms of industry, it may be less developed than agriculture.
