What is it like to live in Toruń? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Toruń is a very beautiful and historical city in Poland. It was one of the places that had not been damaged during World War. You can find ruins from 12th century. Also population is very intelligent and elegant there. I totally recommend this city as an Erasmus destination. For me, spending my Erasmus in Toruń was like royal life in a small city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Toruń?

Student life is also very beautiful. NCU - Nicolaus Copernicus University (or UMK) has very great education and entertainment opportunity for all students. International Office coordinators are very kind and hardworking. If you want to learn and improve your education, you can go to library there. I can not say anything regarding lecturers because I had masters from other countries there. But I can say that NCU is a great opportunitiy for students. I also liked teaching style of Polish language by Mrs. Dominika.

How much does it cost to live in Toruń?

However, everything is cheap in the whole country, living costs in Toruń are cheaper than in other cities and other countries. I got 370 euros per month and it was enough for me that I could purchase a notebook and camera as well as warm clothes for me.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Toruń? Is there any advice you can give?

Accommodation in a dormitory is a clever choice. It was cheap and less troublesome. You have internet, furniture, warm and cold water, electricity and warm room for 280 zloty (about 70 euro - in 2010). But you can find a cheap flat - with not so good condition and without internet connection - for at least 700-1000 zloty. I had my own investigation by Toruń real estates.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Polish cuisine is not so wealthy. You can find flour dishes there. But there are many supermarkets and you can find whatever you want. Even I could find "Kamar" sausages in "Lidl". And there are many restaurants here.

What places would you recommend visiting in Toruń?

I recommend to visit all places in Toruń because everywhere is beautiful there.

Yes, it is good and not so expensive to eat out in Toruń.

Is the nightlife good in Toruń? Where is good to go?

Yes, very good. "Bunkier" and "Czeski Sen" are my favorite. But there are clubs such as "OdNowa", "CarpeDiem", etc.

You won't regret if you choose Toruń. From this city you can also visit some other famous Polish cities.
