Why did you choose to go to Toledo, Spain?

Because of the lifestyle and to improve my Spanish.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It is 4 months and I received about €1000 in total, which wasn't enough to cover 4 months of living.

What is the student lifestyle like in Toledo?

Very easy going. I lived in an appartment, together with 4 locals.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Toledo to other students?

I don't know anything about the University. Because I only did my internship and didn't stay in Uni. But I would certainly recommend the the city! It is small, but very a very authentic place with a lot of historic buildings, people are very helpful and communicative.

What is the food like?

Good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Toledo?

I found an apartment to share with 3 other people, on the Internet. I don't remember the website's name, but very easy to find.

How much does it cost to live in Toledo?

The same as in the rest of Europe. My rent was about €220 per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

As I didn't attend university I can't tell. But once you are living the Spanish lifestyle and you are surrounded by locals, your Spanish will approve very fast.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Toledo from your city?

The easiest and most economical way from Brussels is by plane to Madrid (2hours flight), and from Madrid by train to Toledo (30 minutes trip).

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Toledo?

El Trebol is a very nice restaurant.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

  • The cathedral at Plaza del Ayuntamiento, right in front of the tourism office where I did my internship.
  • Museum of Santa Cruz.
  • The Alcazar, it is a fort an highest point of Toledo.
  • The house of El Greco, situated in the Jewish quarter.
  • Plaza Zocodover.

And so many more!

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Toledo?

Just enjoy your time in this beautiful city! It will be a great experience.
