US Tourist that visits Tokyo 5 times per year and would consider an apartment vs hotel costs

I am a 35 year old tourist who travel to tokyo japan about 5 times per year.    I am considering renting an apartment so that I can have consistent accomidations and a place to store my clothes.    This could be a perfect situtation because as a roommate I will not be in the apparment most of the year.  My ideal location would be near tokyo station, maihama station or somewhere on the keiyo line, but I can be flexible with location.
