Redmotor

Timisoara may not be the most popular touristic destination of Romania but definitely one of the most popular "studenţilor" cities :) It has several universities with high level of education and research. I think also among Erasmus exchange students it is getting more and more popular. However, after some time there you may feel that in Timisoara is nothing left to do... Especially when the weather is not that good or when it is not a party day. Then you start to think about finding fun in alternative ways and exactly this is how you get to Redmotor racing track :) You can find the contact of this nice go-kart circuit on the internet and make a booking in advance regarding the time, number of people and type of race you want to try. So when you will be there, the minicars will just wait for you.

To reach to the circuit is so easy even if you don't have a real car; you just have to tell to the first free taxi you see "go-kart" and they will drive you there. I can tell you that the taxi service is cheap in Romania and it is even cheaper if you have to share it with friends. The circuit is about 15 minutes drive from the city center and it is in a lost area so you will not care about the noise that your car will make... and they will make a lot of noise surely to make the ride more special. ;) During good weather the circuit becomes longer as they connect the indoor track with the outdoor one, which must make the drive even more fun. However when I visited the place it was rainy weather so we did only the indoor laps.

At the entrance of the building is a small exhibition showing photos of competitions that are made not only in this circuit, and medals, trophies or certificates that are won from drivers of many go-kart categories in Romania.

After this part, you enter in a large hall where you find a bar in the center and many tables to sit around. From the bar you can order drinks or food... mainly pizza. I can assure you that after the race you will really want to visit the bar for a drink :) There also you pay for the go-kart service. As we liked the place and we love adrenaline, we reserved the whole track for a "Super Grand Prix Race", which included 5 minutes warming up and 2 times x 10 minutes races with some short break between. All this costed 110 lei (around 25 euro) but I can confidently tell you it is all worthy. If you want to eat something after the race, you may pay an additional 10 lei and then you will have a pizza included in the price. This place is also nice if you don't wanna participate but just watch your friends as a spectator or play the role of the photographer...

After the big hall, you enter to the circuit. There at first you have to pass to the "dressing room" where everyone get helmet and professional uniform with protection for a safe drive. 

The track is very nice, full of curves and straight parts (what else?) and especially when you are racing with your friends, it is really cool feeling. You will feel the fear when a friend is attacking and you try not to let him pass or feel the ambition to go for better ranking and try to pass your friend. Of course, crashing parts have their role to make the driving funny and serious in the same time. As a conclusion, I can say that Polish people are definitely the craziest drivers you can meet :D

After the race, you will look like Formula 1 drivers after they finish the race: sweating and with messed up hair. In the end of the competition, they will provide for each of you the results in a paper: the best-timing lap, the total time of the drive, the rankings in general and other data. After you remove the driver uniform and get cleaned, I recommend to pass through the bar for a pit-stop of your stomach.
