Experience in Teruel, Spain, by Clara

What is it like to live in Teruel? Would you recommend it? How is it?

Living in Teruel is an ode to tranquility and above all, time.

If you don't want to experience running out of time and not having enough time to do everything you'd planned, then this is your city.

But obviously, like everywhere, it has its negative aspects. It's a small city, so there isn't a huge offer of leisure activities. There are some really good places, but there isn't a huge variety.

What is the student lifestyle like in Teruel?

The student atmosphere in Teruel is good. From Thursdays to Sundays you can go out anywhere you want, always. Also, during the months of September-October, and also May-June there are a variety of street festivals in the city... I really recommend these!

If you have the opportunity, I invite you to come and get to know the festivals in the surrounding towns.

How much does it cost to live in Teruel?

To me, it seems cheap to live in Teruel.

The rented flats aren't highly priced. When it comes to buying food, the supermarkets are just like any other supermarket in the country.

Entertainment is cheap, and whatever activity that you want to do would also be cheap.

Was it difficult to find your accommodation in Teruel?

Do you have any advice?

Finding accommodation in Teruel is easy.

There's a hall of residence with a good atmosphere, which is also more expensive. On the other hand there are student flats that have a low price.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

You'll eat phenomenally well in Teruel.

If you come to Spain, you have to try the potato tortilla, the Teruel ham, paella and the traditional sweets from Teruel that you'll find in any bakery.

What places would you recommend visiting in Teruel?

Teruel is a work of art. Especially in the centre where the architecture blends between different cultures. Although, the city does stand out for it Mudejar art and modernism.

And we can't possibly forget all the pretty towns that exist around Teruel, they're amazing. One of the closest is Albarracín.

Is it good to eat out in Teruel?

What are some of your favourite places to go?

Cruza and Pasa, typical locations for students... amazing and cheap. Also Bar Vicente.

On the other side is Rokelin.

Additionally, if you want to eat well, the Asador La Vaquilla is great.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Teruel?

Franagans and Millenium to have a drink after food, and to finish the night, the "Zone".

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Teruel in the future?

I would recommend having a high level of Castillian Spanish.

And for those who have a good level of the language and want to live in a peaceful place, then Teruel, without a shadow of a doubt, is your city.

The "Homo Turolensis" is an endangered species. Living in the territory of Teruel, or those that forms the "Empty Spain", is one of the best options for the future. It is safe, natural, sovereign, ancestral and social choice. Escape from the deccaying system confined in megacities and live your life in a different way.

I have travelled a lot, as erasmus student, and at the end of the story, I considered living in the territory. Come and won't you leave! Become an Homo Turolensis.
