What is it like to live in Teruel? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Teruel is a small and quiet city, about 35.000 inhabitants, even tho it's a cozy and charming place. It's a rural place and is surrounded by small villages.
A great advantage is that you can walk from one end to another in Teruel in 40 minutes, so if you get a bike you can go anywhere real fast. There are also buses.
It is called in Spain as the city of love, as there is a very famous book based in this city. It has a lot of Mudéjar buildings, which is Hispanic-Muslim architecture.
I totally recommend you to come to Teruel if you like slow life.
It is 2 hours away by bus from Zaragoza and from Valencia.

What is the student lifestyle like in Teruel?

There are just a few careers in Teruel. Most of the poeple who study here are from other parts of Spain, so they are very outgoing and open to new people.

How much does it cost to live in Teruel?

Teruel is a very cheap place. There is a universitary residence next to the uni which is about 400-500 euros/month and includes meals and cleaning. If you prefer sharing an apartment it's cheaper and you could find something nice from 150-200 euros onwards.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Teruel? Is there any advice you can give?

It's not difficult to find accomodation, but best places are taken first, so if you want the greatest place of them all you should start looking for a badass room ASAP.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is awesome, as all Spanish cuisine, but Teruel is famous for its ham. Search: Jamón de Teruel (Teruel's ham) in Google and thank me later.
You should totally try it.

What places would you recommend visiting in Teruel?

-El Torico. It is the centre of Teruel. El Torico is a small bull on the top of a column. It's located in the center of a square plenty of terraces.
-Escalinata. Located in El óvalo. Beautiful arabic stairs.
-Santa María Cathedral.
-Several Mudéjar towers such as San Martín, San Pedro and Salvador.
-Albarracín, a village near Teruel.

Is it good to eat out in Teruel? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Any place is good to eat out if you are looking for a menu.
For a sandwich, I'd recommend "Bar Vicente" near university. Big sandwiches for 2,5 euros and there's always good vibes.
A site I do NOT recommend is El Torreón, for real. Don't go there.

Is the nightlife good in Teruel? Where is good to go?

There are only two bar streets, but they are full of people every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Discos:
Davidue: Reggaeton and hispanic songs
Transit: Mixed
Place: Mixed
La taberna: Rock
Flanagans: It is a bar with a lot of different kinds of beers.

What advice would you give future students heading to Teruel?

If you are looking for a city as Madrid or Barcelona don't choose Teruel. If you want to get for-life friends and a new family, come and enjoy Teruel.
