What is it like to live in Tbilisi? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I recommend to live in Tbilisi. It is nice city with its old and new parts. Tbilisi is rich with old churches. It is safe enough for living.
What is the student lifestyle like in Tbilisi?
Student lifestyle is like having a study-days and also entertainment-days.
How much does it cost to live in Tbilisi?
Living in Tbilisi for a person costs about 1500 Gel which is about 700 EU per month (including accommodation, communal expenses, eating).
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Tbilisi? Is there any advice you can give?
It's quite easy to find accommodation in Tbilisi. Apartments near center of Tbilisi are more expensive, but it is possible to find apartment not so near to center and they are good too.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Georgian food are rich in diversity. The most traditional food: Khinkali (contains pastry and meat), Mtsvadi (roasted meat on "shampuri"), Khachapuri (contains pastry and cheese). There are other food also. I love the abovementioned three very much. I really advice that food.
What places would you recommend visiting in Tbilisi?
There are lots of places to visit. Especially in old Tbilisi. There are many churches in Tbilisi old and new ones. There are castles also. Only one day is not enough to see all the remarkable places of Tbilisi.
Is it good to eat out in Tbilisi? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, It is good to eat out in Tbilisi. In old Tbilisi there are a lot of places to eat and not only in old Tbilisi. In whole city there are many restaurants. You can eat traditional food almost in every restaurant of Tbilisi. Some of them are too expensive, but a lot of them are quite cheap. For example there is a restaurant named "Tiflisi" (it is an old name of Tbilisi), "Shemoikhede Genatsvale", "Machakhela" (there you can eat a special kind of Khachapuri) and so on.
Is the nightlife good in Tbilisi? Where is good to go?
The nightlife in Tbilisi is good. I think it's better in summer. There are lots of good festivals. For example there is one of my favorite festival "Art-Gen". It starts in spring in regions of Georgia and it finishes in Tbilisi (here it lasts for about 10 days). It is held in ethnographic museum which is a big yard with houses of different kind (houses from all regions of Georgia). You can listen Georgian folklore, traditional dances and also modern music. You can spend the whole day there, eating and having fun.
What advice would you give future students heading to Tbilisi?
I advice to study well and have a fun with listening to good music. Don't loose your time and visit all historical places of Tbilisi and not only Tbilisi. You can travel during your holidays in Mountains and also at Black Sea.
