Summer in Tbilisi is awful and, at the same time, great. Are you confused? Okay, I will explain if I can, while I can, how I can... this is in some kind of song, I think. I just remembered, so I wrote it. Well, today is 29-th of February, 2016. What is so special about this day, you may ask. Well, first of all, it’s a leap year, _ check it out, it’s 29-th of February, people! This day won’t come for exactly four years! Secondly, today was Oscars Awards Ceremony and guess what? Leonardo DiCaprio finally got his Oscar and now the main question everyone has in their minds is what to do with all the photos and gifs and phrases and stuff like that, which were made to tease Leonardo for not having the Oscar and waiting for to get it every year for all these years… so, today was a great sunny day. It’s like the winter was saying good-bye with not its freezing manner, but with these rays of the sun and warmth. The feeling was the same too. I could feel the spring coming and I realized how much I have missed a nice weather outside. So, about the summers in Tbilisi! Why did I wrote all this? Because I wanted you to know, why I remembered summers in Tbilisi on this last day of winter.

The morning started okay, it was sunny outside, I woke up early, but then went to sleep again and so on and so forth and whatsoever… and when I went outside, I could feel that feeling you get when you go outside in summer evening or very early in the morning. You could smell some summer scent in the buses and in the streets too. And so I remembered what a torture it is to be in Tbilisi in summer and to have to work or study or something like that. For example, last summer was so hot, you would not want to go outside and you could not stand being even inside!

So, the question is, how you survive summer in Tbilisi? Well, you don't! Remember that and trust me on that. You should really get out of Tbilisi. Go wherever you want, just don't stay there. Because if you stay there, you should anticipate yourself melting quickly and having no energy left to fight against it. Nothing and nobody can help you then.

Summers in Tbilisi are very hot, especially recent years it has been so hot, that people can't stand it. Well, it maybe is 37-40 degrees Celsius, I don't really remember, but for us it's really hot. People get all this crazy and stuff. They just run outside of Tbilisi wherever they can _ in the mountains or at the seaside or just in some villages or even towns. It's really sad to watch people be tortured by this summer sun in Tbilisi. Well, those people are forced to stay in the city as they have jobs and can not really leave them, can they? Well, I can relate them at some point.

Now, going to work by your own car or even by taxi is not the best option, but still, it's better than some public transport like buses or minibuses. So, in that case, you will have to stand there in the street, maybe be stuck in some traffic jam and you will just sweat, and, you know, the sun rays just fall on the front of the car and the driver and the one sitting next to him/her are on fire, we could say that. So until you get to work, you'll sweat so much that maybe you will need to have another pair of clothes to change before you get to your work or enter the building or something.

The worst nightmare is taking a bus, because there are many people on it and there is an awful smell, if you know what I mean, and it is just unbearable! So, if you can, just please avoid the buses. Minibuses, however, are not that bad, as there are not as many people as in buses and most of them sit comfortably and there is no fight about who can sit and who can not.

The coolest way of transportation in summers in Tbilisi is metro. There you won't sweat or get bothered with that sunlight, etc. One problem of metro is that it can not get anywhere you want, as it has certain places, certain stops and from there you should walk to your destination or take a bus, or a taxi or a minibus or something.

Usually, the peak of the Sun is after 12 o'clock and it continues till 3 p. m. So that period of time is really bad for anyone to go out, because it's really hot and the rays of the Sun during that time is as direct as never. And it's great if you don't have to go out or anywhere during that period of time, because in that case you will just sit at home with air-conditioning and stuff and be more comfortable, than in the middle of the city under the direct rays of the Sun sweating all over!

Of course, the best thing is to drink a lot of water _ to stay hydrated. And the watermelon season is on and so you can buy watermelons and just eat them all day. It's kind of fruit that most of the people love and eat with pleasure. There's even this watermelon diet, when people who want to lose some weight only eat watermelon for some days or something like that. And I must say, it's kind of effective!
