Introduction

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about this place in Tbilisi, which has become pretty popular these days. If once not many people knew about it, now almost everyone knows about this place and people just go there and buy some things for themselves or for others.

This is a place nearby the metro station Station Square and, well, it’s located in Station Square, technically. It’s underground and it’s a second hand clothes area, so they call it.

This is a pretty large area full of clothes and shoes and bags and things like that. Since they are second hand, you can buy them at pretty low prices. However, it all depends on the quality and the look of the clothes or whatever they can be.

How to get there

Well, getting there is pretty easy, because you just need to get to the Station Square metro station, which is basically the main point of the metro. You can not just miss this station. However, there’s this one thing that you should know about and it’s related to the direction in which you're traveling. If you are going there from Varketili metro station or Rustaveli or Liberty Square, etc. then you can just use the escalators and come up on the Station Square station. Then just walk towards the Tbilisi Central railway station building, walk down into the tunnel (or whatever it is) and then just get into the underground, which you will see pretty easily. However, you might still get confused and in that case you can just ask people where the underground is.

Instead, if you are going there from the Saburtalo line, you will need to get upstairs and then just walk through that tunnel towards the first line. Then just get on the escalators and do that exact thing that I told you about in the paragraph above this.

Besides the metro, there are several buses and microbuses which go directly there. Some buses even start from Station Square. However, I still prefer going there by metro because it’s an easier way to move about than going there by bus or microbus or even by car. Buses need a long time go get there from any place in Tbilisi.

You can take the bus nº 37, which goes all the way from the airport to Station Square and it works all night, too. However, the underground second hand clothes area isn't open in the evenings until late or at night, so keep that in mind. There are also the buses nº 9, 47 or 78, etc. which go to that bus station, where you can just go right and find your way to the underground.

There are also many microbuses going to Station Square, for example the microbuses nº 6, 141 and 201, etc. which go directly there or somewhere nearby. You should tell the driver to stop somewhere near Tbilisi central or Pasazhi shopping center. Then you will have to walk a little bit until you get to the second hand underground area.

What to expect in the second hand underground area

Well, there are lots of things in the underground area, the space between the shelves is very narrow and you should expect to be in a little crowded area there, so that it’s better if you don’t carry large bags or some things like that. That way you can move about freely without any obstacles, if you want to know the truth.

There are lots of rows and you might even get confused and lost in those rows. However, you will still find your way somewhere, of course. You might spend the next plenty of hours wandering in the rows of that second hand underground.

You should also know that there's a clothes and shoes bazaar just next to the second hand clothes and you might get confused about the whole thing.

You can buy some good second hand t-shirts and shirts even for just 1 Lari if you are lucky. However, they usually cost 3-5 Laris and there are some good trousers for 15 Laris. That's mostly what I go there to shop for. There are also bags and handbags and pants and underwear, dresses, costumes, shoes, etc. So that, if you are on a budget, you can shop there and find some pretty good stuff to wear.
