Pizza day!
So, the other day, I was sitting and thinking and I just had this idea of preparing pizza at home with some friends. And I liked the idea so much that I grasped at it and couldn’t let it go. I wanted to do something with my friends and just have a good time and, so, I told one of them. She said, she was starting a diet. Well, what could I do?! Then I told another one. She said yes, but her schedule wasn’t that flexible, so she would be free after 5 p.m. and, well, that was not that bad. Then the other one said she didn’t have time until late evening… Well, whatcha gonna do, I thought to myself and the plan was to be me and Nino making pizza. And although she said she didn’t eat any meat or something like that, I agreed to make some pizza without meat. Or make a pizza with half of it topped with meat and half of it with some vegetables or something like that. So we had an agreement.
Then, suddenly this one friend changed her mind and said she wouldn’t start a diet and that she could come prepare pizza with me, and that was a great news! Then I told another friend and she agreed, too, and so the day was on! Then there were two other friends, too, and the “hello party time!”
Then I thought and made a decision, that there shouldn’t have been just a pizza or something and we decided to have some Caesar Salad, too, and of course some sweets and those sweets should have been mini tarts with my whipped cream filling, which I like very much.
Pizza dough
So, the day before, I made two doughs, because dough needs some time to double in size and it would not be a good idea to prepare them on the pizza day. The dough preparation is not very difficult, and so those two doughs were easy to make. I poured some 1 and 1/3 warm water in a bowl, put some sugar in it and 7 gramms of dry yeast, then in another bowl I put 2 and a half cup all-purpose flour, 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil, some sugar and salt, then added that yeast mixture to it and mixed them and then added 1 cup of flour, too. I made another dough just like this one and just made them like balls. I put each of them into oiled bowls and set them aside in a warm place to double in size.
Then, when the doughs were ready, I put them in a refrigerator and set them for the next day pizza-making.
Whipped cream
I also made a whipped or boiled cream the day before. I really like this cream, it is very tasty and doesn’t really need much effort. I take 1 litre water, then in another bowl I mix 6 tbs flour and 9 tbs sugar and when the water boils I add this mixture to it and mix it in there. Then you need to stir occasionally so the mixture will become like a porridge. And when it’s done, you need to wait for it to cool a little bit. Then you take some 100 grams of margarine (I use margarine Ona Cream, because it has some good taste) on a room temperature and whisk it with a mixer thoroughly, then you add some pieces of that porridge to it until you have added all the porridge. When you have mixed everything, you can add some vanilla and some alcohol such as vodka or rum or something like that.
I made two types of this cream. One was usual white and the other was cacao cream _ I added some 50 grams or something like that of cocoa to the cream and it was really delicious. I put them in containers and put them in the fridge.
Chicken for Caesar Salad
I thought and decided that it would be better if I had pre-prepared the chicken for Caesar Salad, too, because it would have been easier for the next day. So I bought 800 grams of frozen chicken fillets and cooked it. Well, you know when the chicken is frozen and it’s 800 grams, when cooked you will only be left with 600 or something grams of chicken, but still it was not that little. So, I put it in some boiling water. When the water boiled again, I waited 15 or 20 minutes for the chicken to be cooked somehow and then I took them out. When the chicken fillets cooled down, I cut them into small cubes and put them in that water again for a couple of minutes. Then I took them out and put them on a pan and cooked them there for a couple of minutes, because cooked chicken on a pan has a distinguished taste. So that the chicken was ready for the next day and I put it in a fridge, too.
So, everything was ready for the pizza day and we only needed some ingredients to buy the next day and that was it.
The pizza day
On this day we had dermatology curation and when it was finished, we just rushed to get out of there and get to my apartment to make pizza.
First of all, we had to stop in some places, like the Station Square, where we could buy some tart shapes, because we didn’t know where else to buy them. Well, we looked for them in some supermarkets nearby, but they didn’t have any, so we went to the Station Square, where I knew they had some.
Then we went to Varketili. There is this big Fresco grocery store where we bought some ingredients including cheddar cheese, gouda and Emental, also some canned mushrooms and other stuff. We also bought some bacon and pepperoni in Nikora, and you should always buy these stuff in Nikora, I can say.
So, we came to my apartment and got to the business!
Firstly, one of us grated the cheese, we sliced the bell peppers, bacon, olives, some tomatoes… and I forgot to tell you that I had prepared the pizza sauce the day before, so that it was already ready.
One of the girls made mini tarts and one of them made chicken Caesar Salad, so it was just the pizzas left. I rolled the doughs on the pans and then we spread some sauce on them and more and more oregano!
We put some bacon and mushrooms on the sauce, then put on the cheese and then it was time for bell peppers and olives and we put the pizza into the oven.
The other pizza was supposed to be without beef or anything like that, so we put just mushrooms and chopped asparagus there, then the cheese and then some tomatoes and olives and bell pepper.
Until the pizza got ready, we were so hungry that we ate the whole Caesar Salad and some of the tarts and then the moment came! The pizza was ready! The smell was unforgettable and the look was just great! So we sliced it and began eating. Those pizza slices were so large that we couldn’t eat anything else. Well, we thought so.
Some time later another friend called and she was coming, so I put her slice of pizza in the oven and went downstairs to meet her, because she didn’t know how to get there and well, then something happened _ I forgot to tell others that I was heating up that slice of pizza and it was burned somehow. But she still ate it, because that pizza was really good and it was bad to waste it.
Then came the time for the second pizza to prepare because another friend was coming. Although that pizza was of mushrooms and vegetables only and we thought it wouldn’t be as good as the other one, but it was really delicious , too, so soon there was not anything left from it too.
And we ate so many tarts, that we couldn’t move.
And the last but not the least was another friend, who came all the way from Vazha-Pshavela avenue to my apartment and I think it took one hour to come here, but hey, I was really glad that she came, however nothing but some tarts was left. Well, I knew she was not going to eat anything as she had already told me that something like a million times, and I knew she only wanted to drink cold coffee. She also brought a huge chocolate ice-cream and biscuits. And we started making this cold coffee. I had all the equipment, but didn’t really know how to prepare the cold coffee, but everything was under control! She had this recipe of cold coffee sent via SMS by her sister, I guess, so we had the recipe and the equipment and the ingredients and it was time to prepare some cold coffee! Well, I have this blender, it has a mixer gadget, too, so I thought I would use it, but then I realized, I didn’t really have such bowl that would be comfortable with that thing, so that didn’t help. Then it was time for my standing mixer to take its position and do its stuff. So I took it out, poured some water in its bowl, some sugar and coffee and just let the magic begin and let the mixer do its job. To be honest, everything went well and the mixer did a really great job and the coffee was almost ready. Then it needed some ice, and some ice-cream that my friend had brought and some glasses and that was it! Well, I think, I haven’t mentioned anything about my ice-making machine. So, the refrigerator has a freezer (obviously) and it can make ice cubes and my refrigerator has a great ice-making technique, I can say, I mean, it makes ice cubes and gets them together in its freezer, so that I don’t have to bother about those things when you have to pour some water in ice cube tray or whatsoever and then get those cubes out of it and then do that again and stuff. But somehow I couldn’t make my refrigerator make ice cubes, I don’t know why, and I had to buy that kind of silicon ice cube tray that day, so that I would have some ice. And that was a good idea to buy it, because we really needed it that day and it’s necessary in those occasions. So, I put those ice cubes into our glasses, poured there some coffee mixture, then I took two tablespoons of that chocolate ice-cream and put them into the glasses, too, and though my friend told me, she didn’t want so much ice-cream,I still put that into her glass, because ice-cream is good! Especially when it’s chocolate ice-cream! I love everything about chocolate ice-cream and things that have cacao in it! So we talked and enjoyed everything and had a really good time.
Those kind of things are pretty common nowadays and we _ students _ just make time for each other and to hang out and enjoy, because that’s what you should do. You should enjoy life with your friends and family and make some time for them, otherwise, who or what else do you need time for? I mean, of course, you should have time for yourself and your goals in life, etc., but everything is achievable with the people around you. And you should appreciate them, and vice versa _ they should appreciate you.
