New Asia Chinese Restaurant

The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article, I want to tell you about this Chinese restaurant in Tbilisi called New Asia and our visit there. It’s not something unusual to find Chinese restaurants in every city, however, I haven’t been to many of them and I don’t usually eat Chinese food, if you want to know the truth. However, there was this one time, when me and my friend got together and thought about going somewhere in a new place, that we hadn’t visited until that. We had some options, however, after some thinking we just decided to visit this Chinese restaurant called New Asia, which was just nearby the City Mall Saburtalo.

About New Asia

The New Asia is a Chinese restaurant, as I have already mentioned, and it’s located on Davit Gamrekeli st. no.3 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The restaurant was opened on 15-th of February, 2016, and its chef is Yang Taiyin. It’s just in front of City Mall Saburtalo, if you have ever been there. Or maybe you have been to Retro, which is well-known for their Acharuli Khachapuri, and New Asia is just beside that Retro, so that it’s pretty easy to find if you know those other places there. And the Technical metro station is kind of nearby that place, I mean, you just have to walk a little bit and then there you are!

You may wonder about the working hours and they work from 12 p.m. till 11 p.m., so that they close a little early, but I don’t think, that many people will want to stay very late in a Chinese restaurant.

They have another branch, too, and it’s located on Griboedovi street no.11/3.It’s kind of nearby the Rustaveli metro station, however, you still have to walk a little bit to get to this New Asia restaurant. However, I haven’t been there, so that I will only tell you about the one on Gamrekeli street, nearby the City Mall Saburtalo.

The environment

Well, the environment in New Asia is pretty wonderful. It’s really cozy and, at the same time, spacious and comfortable.

It’s decided in red colours, however, it’s not some vivid red, rather, it’s kind of dark red, a peaceful red, I would say. There are dark wooden tables and chairs around, which have red covers and stuff like that. The lights are dim and it kind of gives you some peaceful feeling, I guess.  the plates are pretty large and white and there are cloth napkins on them, which are golden and red in colours. And there were also some paper napkins along with the salt and pepper on the tables.

The room was for non-smokers and smokers both. I mean, they don’t have non-smokers’ room there and people can smoke in the room if they want to.

There were also some dark boards on the walls with some yellow squares on them and it was like some flowers in yellow colours, if you ask me. There were also some painting on the walls in Asian style and the lights were kind of white with a dark ceiling.

The bathrooms are just wonderful. They are large and with some wooden-coloured walls and floor. There’s a huge mirror above the sinkand there are some plants around in vases and stuff like that. And the doors are that of Asian style, which should be slided and not pushed or whatever.

The menu and prices

To be honest, I didn’t expect the prices to be that high. Of course, the restaurants are always expensive, but this one was pretty much expensive, when we looked at the prices. However, it’s kind of rude to just get out of a restaurant like that, so that we stayed and decided to have something with average price and something that sounded interesting, because we wanted to have a dinner in Chinese restaurant.

So that, the average prices were 25-50 Laris per portion and we didn’t really know, how much was each portion, though I thought, that there would be pretty large portions and so it was.

Well, to be honest, I thought about what to choose for a really long time, because I didn’t know anything about them and  I didn’t know how large one portion was. Finally , we decided, that we would choose some dishes and we would share them, and that was a pretty good idea, because when they brought us the ordered dishes, they were so large in portions, that we wouldn’t  be able to eat them all.

There’s this new dish now, that they didn’t have then and it’s called Chicken with sesame seeds and it’s really a great thing to eat there, however, I didn’t have a chance to taste it.

Well, that time, that we were there, I ordered fried rice with smoked fish, which was 8.50 laris, chicken with sweet and sour sauce, which was about 18 laris and some noodles with vegetables, which was somewhere about 8 laris, too.

We were really looking forward to tasting our orders and soon they brought us the dishes. First of all, the portions were too large and it was not fine for two people or even for three, it maybe needed four people to have all that eaten. It sure was not for just one! It was so much, that when after some time my brother joined us and ate some of the dishes, we couldn’t really eat them all, either.

I must say, that the noodles were really delicious and light to eat. They had some carrots and other vegetables in them and there was some sauce on the noodles, which made them even easier to eat.

The chicken was with vegetables, like bell pepper, and it had this sauce on it,which tasted kind of like some barbeque sauce, and it was really delicious and we just loved that dish very much.

The third dish was smoked salmon pieces with fried rice and vegetables. The dish was alright, however, it was the least favoured dish between those three, I guess. the taste didn’t really get well with the ingredients, if you ask me. And though, it was not very bad, it was not very tasty, either.

Anyways, we were pretty pleased though, that we went to this restaurant and ate some good things, which didn’t really cost that much, I mean, it was about 40 laris in all, I guess. and there could have been four people and they would have a great meal in that price.

Ordering online

If you are interested in the Chinese restaurant New Asia, you can visit their web page on Facebook. You can just write “New Asia” or newasiasd and you will find them there. There you can find information about the New Asia restaurant and you can even order online. For that, you should click on “See MENU & Order” and there will be the whole menu with its prices and you can choose whichever dish you want to have and then get to the next page, where you will fill out the form, where you have to fill your name and address and then confirm your order by having your credit card number and information filled in the gaps and then that’s it, the currier will bring the delivery to you. And there’s a price for that, too, it’s 5 laris or so for an order, so keep that in mind!

You can go to the Photos and see the pictures of the dishes and then decide, which dish you want to order.

The service

You can either pay by cash in the restaurant or pay by credit card.

There’s a wi-fi there in the restaurant, too, and if you ask them, they will give you the password, which you can use while being there.

There’s a little bit problem with the parking of the cars and they don’t have a parking space, so that you should park your car in the street, however, it’s not that easy to find an empty parking place around there, because there’s usually too much traffic and there are all those cars parked around. So, you just have to park your car a little farther, if you are not lucky to find a place nearby.
