Hidden place in Tbilisi _ Lavra

The introduction

There are lots of small and not very known places all around Tbilisi and there are many of them where you can hang out with your friends in a cozy environment and enjoy the live music. One of them I just learned about is called Lavra.

In this article I want to tell you about the experience in Lavra and the group Bedford Falls. Well, the group itself is a pretty new to me. I just found out about them recently and accidentatly.

About the group Bedford Falls

It turns out, that the Bedford Falls is a Georgian group. They play mostly indie rock and are pretty good at it, if you ask me.

It has not been long since they play music, however, they have written many songs already comparing to other Georgian rock groups. There’s something different in their music that makes people listen to them and the sounds and vocals are really good, too.

There are four members in the group and all of them are pretty young.

What is Lavra?

Lavra is a bar in the city center of Tbilisi. It’s a very cozy place like a pub and the atmosphere is really nice there.

The working hours are from 5 p.m. till 3 in the morning on working days excluding Friday and on Friday and weekends they close at 6 in the morning, so that it’s a place where you can even spend the whole night listening to some good music,let that be live or just some DJ tracks while sipping some beer and having snacks, etc.

Where is it?

The place is in the center of Tbilisi just parallel to Rustaveli avenue. It’s called R. Tabukashvili street no.36. it’s in the middle of the Rustaveli metro station and Liberty square metro station. And it’s somewhere behind the Tbilisi Opera.

How to get there?

You can get to Lavra by getting out from the Liberty square metro station and walk towards Rustaveli metro station. When you see the Rustaveli cinema and then the Kashueti churchbeside it, you should turn right and walk a little bit and then you go to the left and walk through the street, which is Tabukashvili. Some time later you will see this Lavra, where usually there are people standing outside smoking or something.

What to do in Lavra

As I have already told you, Lavra is a bar like pub and there are the usual things inside. You can have drinks and snacks there and enjoy the good music. People usually just go there to be together and relax.

You can have some pretty good cocktails and tequila shots at the bar, while the others can be dancing around, because there’s not plenty of space inside and if you are not a spacious halls person, you will like it there in Lavra.

The prices

The prices are pretty normal, just like the prices are in other pubs in Tbilisi, however, you should first check the prices before you order something, because you never know what might happen and you should know whether you have that amount of money with you or not.

The Antique Party with Bedford Falls experience

This other day Lavra created an event for April 20. It was announced, that they would have live performance of the indie rock group Bedford Falls and they called it the “Antique Party”.Though I didn’t realize what the name was meant for, but when I got to the party it became all clear. The theme was the antique Greece and the group members were also wearing those tunics that the Greek people wore back in those times.
