The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

I’m sure, that every one of you knows about Carrefour supermarket, which is a French brand or whatever and, perhaps many of you have been there for shopping. I must say, that I didn’t really like it at first and when they were announcing about opening Carrefour supermarket in Georgia, in Tbilisi in particular, I was not that excited about that as the other people were. And, besides, this Carrefour supermarket was opened in Tbilisi Mall, which is in the very end of Tbilisi, where I usually don’t go, because I don’t have anything to do there and most of the times I’m at the other end of Tbilisi, if you want to know the truth, so that it was not very comfortable for me to go there for shopping, of course, and that was one of the reasons, why I wasn’t that excited about that. And, besides, I was used to shopping in Goodwill supermarket, which was just in a good place for me back then and it was pretty good shopping there and they had some great products, which I loved, for example, there were these different prepared dishes there, which were very delicious, and, besides, they had some great cookies from Germany and I liked their bakery, too. In fact, there was everything I needed and everything was good, however, the prices were a little too much on some products.

Well, many people used to go to Tbilisi Mall just to shop in Carrefour and there was actually nothing going to that direction exactly and then they had this microbus no. 51 directed to Tbilisi Mall and then even more people would go to that Carrefour. To be honest, I have just been once to that Carrefour in Tbilisi Mall and it’s pretty huge and there are many different sections and everything. It’s the largest Carrefour supermarket in Tbilisi, I guess.

The locations

So, I’m sure you are interested in the locations of Carrefour supermarkets and where to go for the better shopping.

First of all, as I’ve already mentioned, it’s Carrefour supermarket in Tbilisi Mall, which is on Davit Aghmashenebeli alley, in the very end, just until you leave Tbilisi for Mtskheta. And the building is pretty strange, it has these different coloured cubes around. I know, that you can get there by your car and there’s this microbus no. 51 going to that direction. However, I don’t know any other transport going there, so that it’s best if you go there by your car, and there’s this huge parking just underneath, though you must be careful and remember where you park your car, because you can lose it and not find it when you finish your shopping and the security people there can not really help you, I guess. well, at least, they couldn’t help my parents, when they couldn’t find our car and couldn’t remember where it was parked.

Anyways, the second Carrefour supermarket you can find nearby Station Square, where many things are located and when you get to Tsotne Dadiani street, there is a shopping center called Karvasla and there is Carrefour supermarket inside the building, and it’s not a bad place, if you ask me, though it’s not on a comfortable zone, I think. However, getting there on foot can be not that difficultand I usually went there on foot from the Station Square metro station, from where that building is in two bus stops’ distance, however, if the bus comes soon, you can wait for it just when you come out of the metro station and then get to the Karvasla building. And there’s only one bus moving to that direction, so that you won’t have to ask around which one is going there or things like that.

One of the most visited Carrefour supermarkets in Tbilisi is in East Point, which has been opened just recently and it’s at the other end of Tbilisi comparing to Tbilisi Mall, which has the largest Carrefour supermarket, as I’ve already mentioned. Carrefour in East Point is very well accessible for me and we usually go for shopping there, because it’s just 20 minutes away from my apartment on foot and you can get there by car even in less minutes and the parking there is almost always full whenever you get there. There are these microbuses going there, too, and one of them is microbus no. 176, which just goes in front of my apartment and I can just easily get to the Carrefour supermarket that way and it just costs the regular microbus price, which is 80 tetris. You can also get there from the across the Varketili metro station by microbus no. 224 for 50 tetris. And there are 89 microbus and 190 microbus going there from Samgori metro station. There used to be a free bus going there from Samgori metro station in every 15 minutes or so, however, they decided, that it was not a good idea to have it for people and they cancelled that bus route. And there is no bus going there directly, however, there are two bus stops nearby and when I want to get home by bus, I just wait for the bus no. 56, which then goes to my apartment and that’s pretty good.

Another Carrefour supermarket you can find in Isani, it’s like nearby Isani metro station, however, it’s not that close to it, either. It’s like the distance from the Station Square metro station to the Karvasla building, so that you can get ther on foot from the metro station, though, you will need 10 minutes or so to get there and it’s not a good idea to wait for a bus, because the bus stop is not just across the Carrefour and you will have to get off the bus earlier, otherwise its next stop is pretty much far from the building, where Carrefour supermarket is. Well, to tell you the truth, it’s not just Carrefour supermarket there, rather that is called Isani Mall and there are some other shops in there, too, and some other things, like Bank branches, etc. Going there by car is not a bad idea, either, because they have a good parking lot and it’s really easy to access it.

Another Carrefour supermarket has just recently been opened in Saburtalo and people were impatiently waiting for it to be opened and now every one of the goes shopping there and, I must say, that the place is pretty well-decided and they have lots of things there. One of those things, that I really liked was, that they had these tables with chairs outside the cashiers and you could eat there whatever you wanted, I mean, they have these prepared dishes and stuff like that and if I want to have them right then, then I have to find some place to sit, of course, otherwise I will have to eat standing, so that I was very surprised when I saw those tables and very pleased, at the same time, because when me and my friend visited it for the first time, we actually were very hungry and that’s why we went there to buy some prepared dishes and eat, and when we saw, that we could eat there without going anywhere else, it was very pleasant. And they had these Belgian waffles with some sauces, like apple jam and nutella and bananas and things like that and they also had pancakes and crepes prepared just in front of you, which made us want to have some of them and my friend decided to eat some pancakes with nutella and they just cost 1 lari or 2, I guess, and she said, that they were pretty good. And I’m planning on going there to taste those Belgian waffles with some fruit of season. They looked pretty delicious back then, however, I didn’t really want to have them at that time.

Anyways, this Saburtalo Carrefour is just nearby Saburtalo street, which is now called Tsintsadze street, if you want to know the truth, and when you are going there from pekini street, you should go to that Tsintsadze and then go to the left on the very first crossing, that you find there. You can even see the sign from far away and you will realize, that it’s the building that you are looking for.

The other Carrefour supermarket, which I didn’t really know, that it existed, is just nearby Baratashvili street, when you get inside those buildings and then there you will see a building, where there’s a sign, saying that there’s this Carrefour supermarket. I haven’t visited it yet, though I have been there nearby and that’s how I know about that. It’s a very accessible place to everyone, if you ask me, and there are many buses going there and many of them have the last stop on Baratashvili street, so that it’s not difficult at all to visit that Carrefour supermarket. However, the best way to go there is still by car, I guess, because when you shop in a large supermarket like that, you buy many things there and it’s not that easy to carry them with you with public transport or on foot, of course.
