Buying things for peanut butter cups

Peanut butter cups have become my favourite ones, because they are really delicious and not very difficult to make. And, yes, I used to make them and they are homemade. And I haven’t really tasted any Reese’s peanut butter cups or whatsoever, because I usually make them and haven’t had that feeling of wanting to taste one of them. Maybe that’s because, I haven’t really spotted any of them in grocery stores and, to tell you the truth, I really haven’t looked for them in grocery stores, so… that’s pretty much it.

And, the thing is, I really like making stuff by myself, and it’s a really good feeling when you have done something you can be proud of and I usually am really proud of my peanut butter cups, because they are pretty good, well, at least I like them, and the preparation process is not very tiring or something like that, so, everything is just great. And they are not very small and they are pretty much enough for my morning snack - when I have them, I usually have them in the mornings, because it gives kind of a boost and your day starts wonderfully, as it not only has chocolate in it, but it also has that peanut butter that is very good for you!

So, I guess, I should tell you, how it all started. Well, I didn’t like peanut butter at all, although there were many cartoons that I watched as a kid, where those characters loved peanut butter very much and they used peanut butter in their daily meals and their toasts and almost everywhere, if you want to know the truth, and then there were these different American movies, where they ate peanut butter and stuff like that, but when I tried to eat it, I didn’t really like it, so that was pretty much it and I hadn’t had a wish to try it another time. But then, one day we were at our groupmate’s home, where she had all those dishes prepared for us and many other stuff, and it was summer and there were many fruits and we brought some creamy cakes, too, and it all was like crazy. So, she had made those peanut butter cups and she got it out of the fridge and offered me one. Well, I didn’t know what it was at first, until she told me it was a peanut butter cup and that I wouldn’t regret tasting it, and it looked amazing, so I tasted it. I still remember its taste, it was so delicious! I was pretty much amazed by it and I even had the second one. But, you know, there were not many of them, and they were pretty much enough for that time, because I had eaten many other things, too, so… That’s when I had this first bite of a peanut butter cup!

Some time passed since then and I wanted to feel that taste again, so I googled some peanut butter cups and their recipes and saw that it was not that hard to prepare some of them. And, well, I like trying new things with cooking and preparing dishes and stuff like that, so I decided, that I could do something like that andI made a plan of the ingredients and where and how I could buy them.

Buying some peanut butter

Well, I had seen a small jar of peanut butter in some grocery store, but when I went there, the price was so terrible, that I almost changed my mind about preparing those peanut butter cups. That small jar cost so much, that it would be enough to buy 3 jars of Nutella, and, believe me, I would prefer Nutella to those peanut butter cups at that time. I mean, who doesn’t love Nutella? It’s something great and I just can’t handle its taste, it’s so delicious. So, I decided that I should look for another peanut butter jars in other stores or places, or whatever. I even thought I would order some via Amazon or Ebay or something, but then I found it somewhere in Tbilisi. Actually, I found it through Internet and I really didn’t know whether there would be peanut butter jars for sale or not. Anyways, I went there. It was somewhere near Kidobani and stuff like that. After some hours of walking and searching, I found it and I bought it. So, that’s how it is here in Tbilisi! You can’t really know where to find some stuff, unless you know it from someone or something like that. Well, at least, that’s how it is for me. But, hey, don’t believe me at a 100 per cent in this case.

Buying chocolate buttons

Then I had to find some chocolate bars that were delicious, and, at the same time, had nothing in them, so that I could melt them and use them as a chocolate covering for my peanut butter. Well, now that I think of it, I could use some chocolate with nuts or something, I guess, and that would make that covering more delicious, if you ask me. The thing is, I didn’t thought about that that time. But next time I’m preparing some peanut butter cups, I will probably use that idea and try that out, well, at least I will see how it comes out.

So, I knew this one store, where they sell all different kinds of stuff, such as birthday party equipment and candles and many things for baking cakes and preparing desserts and stuff like that, so I went there to buy some chocolate. And imagine my disappointment when I went there and they told me they were out of those chocolate buttons that I wanted. They only had those small chocolate chips and the large chocolate bars and I kind of didn’t want to buy them, as I couldn’t really taste them and I wouldn’t know their taste until I melted them and what if they didn’t taste that good? What then? And, I must say, they didn’t cost cheap, so I had to find those chocolate buttons elsewhere. But I didn’t know where exactly they might be. If you are interested, this shop was on the Station Square, where the Station Square metro is. There’s this large shopping mall or something that is called Pasazhi. It is coloured in dark green and orange and there are always many people wandering around. And it has not only some equipment shops in it, but there you can find some toys and decorations and clothes and shoes and uniforms and many other things, so you can go there and enjoy your shopping as it is a pretty good place for that.

Then I went to some other places, where they sold those chocolate chips and cookies and stuff like that, but they didn’t have those chocolate buttons either. Then, somehow, when I didn’t really expect to find anything, I just asked one more time in some store and the lady said that she did have those chocolate buttons. Well, that was a happy moment! I was so glad, that I finally found something I’ve been looking for so long and in so many places, that I bought whole package of them. And then after realizing that it may not have been a great decision, because the chocolate buttons may not have been delicious and they could have had that buttery taste, I just took one piece of it and tasted it. It was pretty delicious and I was really satisfied and I went home very pleased, I can say.

Form for peanut butter cups

I realized, that I didn’t really have some forms, where I could pour my chocolate and peanut butter to have some really pretty peanut butter cups. You know, when everything is perfect, everything is perfect, so I wanted them to be perfect or, at least, kind of perfect. And I wanted them to be beautiful. So I started thinking about the forms and decorations for those peanut butter cups.

I knew those silicon muffin forms were good for the cups and I was planning on buying them some time soon, so why not buy them now?! So, I decided to buy them. But I wanted those peanut butter cups to have those shiny little papers they have around, so that they are more beautiful and don’t get dirty or you don’t get dirty when touching them. And I knew all those things I could buy in that Pasazhi center - as I’ve told you, there you can find many things for everything. So I went there. There was this whole variety of different papers and I just couldn’t decide which one to buy, they were all beautiful and stuff. Finally, I chose some red ones, because red and black is kind of a cool combination, especially when it comes to chocolates, I guess. Well, I could even choose some gold ones and it would be kind of like Ferrero Rocher or something, but it would be kind of boring and would seem like not homemade stuff, if you ask me, so, I bought some red papers and 6 silicon muffin forms. I guess, if I remember correctly, those silicon forms cost 5 or 6 Laris, so it was not really expensive, and I can say, that I used them pretty well and they are pretty good. Well, I haven’t baked anything in them, but I will definitely try some time later. I guess, they will be good for baking, too. I mean, many people just use them and many of those silicon forms are produced and sold every day, so why would they not be good for baking?!

Decorations for my peanut butter cups

The next thing was the decorations! I really wanted my peanut butter cups to look great, so I decided to have some decorations sprinkled on them or something like that. Those decorations were in Pasazhi, too, in that shop where I bought those papers and silicon forms and where I usually buy those stuff for cakes and birthdays. So, they have lots of decorations and they are eatable, of course. They have stuff that you can sprinkle on cakes or things like that and they have some forms and figures made from marzipan and, well, there are lots of choices you can make. But because of the variety, I spent much time wandering around, deciding which ones I wanted to take.

First of all, I decided to take some coconut flakes. You know, they have these different coloured coconut flakes and I took each one of them: there were red, green and the usual white ones. I guess, there are yellow ones, too, but they didn’t have them there then. Then I decided to take some of those candy stuff, the small long and narrow stuff, I don’t know how they are called, but I have a picture of them, so that you can see what I’m talking about. They were different coloured, so they would make my peanut butter cups merrier, so I bought them, too. There were also some snowflakes - those white little snowflakes that were so cute that I couldn’t resist not buying them. So, now I had many different decorations for my peanut butter cups and all I had to do was to go home and prepare some of them. Well, actually, a lot of them, because I knew many people would love them.
